Can a dev please provide some clarity on what is and isn’t against the rules when multiboxing now?
I was under the impression that as long as you do everything manually you’re in the clear; so I’ve been playing 5 accounts on SOD and manually tab though clients and use my mouse wheel up and down as key bindings to cast 2 abilities. I used no software or hardware for it, just a regular mouse and keyboard.
For some reason however I have been banned for 6 months and upon appeal I’m being told that what I did was against TOS and that the ban is being upheld. If I did legitimately break the rules then okay; but please help me understand what I did wrong for future reference. I’d like to be able to multibox, so is using my mouse wheel as a binding not okay because there isn’t enough time between inputs? It felt like it would only take a few milliseconds to get casts off between game clients, so is that too fast?
thats a trap, they tell you that “you can multibox” manually, but they don’t care and will ban you, after you appeal they will say that their “profesionals” detected third party software, which is false.
I know friends banned just like you.
Fun fact: They detect inexistent multibox program, but they can’t detect 100% legit bot programs running the client.
I manually started up my wow accounts through the launcher and would arrange them next to each other and would click them as I moved my cursor over them and press keybindings as I went.
The new rules on multiboxing states that any hardware or software that streamlines multiboxing in any way is against the rules. Based on the specific wording of the new rules does the fact that I had a second monitor plugged in count as hardware that streamlines multiboxing? In hindsight I guess you could infer that, but it honestly didnt occur to me that having a second monitor would be bannable. Also my mouse is a razer naga which has buttons on the side. I didnt even use the extra buttons but does that count as streamlining? I just want to know what I did that I’m not allowed to do so I can avoid it in the future. Perhaps tell me specifically what mouse, keyboard and monitor im actually allowed to use if I want to multibox.
They aren’t going to give a breakdown with examples/templates for dishonest folk to use to skirt their policies. Not saying you are or did attempt to circumvent anything but there’s been engagement with Support Agents in the Customer Support forum numerous times since the policy was updated a couple of years ago and it’s pretty obvious they are going to simply let the current policy statement be the last word - without specifics.
Same here this morning. Same situation. Guys- 1 account per player period- they support MB within guidelines? Lies I say- apparently no legitimate way to have more than one toon logged in.
They’ve admitted when they are wrong and reversed those. Appeal until it’s overturned or they directly tell you to stop doing so. Yes, it takes time and I wish Blizzard would invest more in people to upgrade their customer service. But it’s a process even if not the best or most efficient.
For those with false positives, I hope it is resolved quickly for you. For any cheaters out there, be better.
Anything that is going to automate almost any in game process is going to be something to stay away from. Ultimately they clearly prefer 1 person playing one toon at a time but basic multi-boxing with swapping windows and manual inputs usually is fine.
Seems to be whatever blizzard is feeling like now days; right now because rules seem to be in this game different with every single patch and not equally enforced. Throw the dice, but I know a very well geared MBX player who was not cheating and got the ban hammer. Dude was 100% legit, never used any software or hardware solutions to play, he literally mouse over from screen to screen to play and they still banned him.
You just mouseover a second client on a second monitor. It’s not hard at all to play two characters at once, anyone who plays RTS games is already used to quickly swapping between multiple unit groups and giving commands to each. Dual boxing WoW takes significantly less APM than playing starcraft given the GCD and cast times on abilities. I’ve done it a bunch playing a healer and tank and done every dungeon on hardcore without issues. Most times people can’t even tell I’m dual boxing, and I pull significantly faster than most pug groups because I can control my own healer mana supply as the tank, though some smarter people notice, especially if I get lazy with follow commands.
In theory, dual boxing with independent key presses is allowed, but the problem is reporting is entirely automated and so you eat reports from dumb people who can’t tell the difference between this and botting, and so people get auto-banned despite not breaking the TOS or Blizzard’s own rules. Blizzard is just a junk company that doesn’t manage their games appropriately and doesn’t want to pay for CS or GMs.
Here is their statement by the way:
Multiboxing, or playing multiple World of Warcraft accounts at once, is not a violation of our End User License Agreement. Please note, however, that use of all software or hardware mechanisms used to mirror commands to multiple World of Warcraft accounts at the same time, or to automate or streamline multiboxing in any way may result in account penalties.
