Just give it time. War Mode’s done a lot to curtail the most toxic behaviors, but get rid of that potential barrier and you’ll see some ugly stuff resurface.

Again, I’ve been here since vanilla. Ugliness may have prevailed on more toxic servers, but that wasn’t my experience.
Also a Vanilla PvP server vet, and rest assured, every chance there was for a gank, it was taken.
So I guess it’s anecdotes the whole way down.
I quit the game for 3 years because they applied a 30 minute ban to me for getting booted at the very start of a dungeon by a 4 man guild group at the beginning of Warlords of Draenor. I wouldn’t have a problem quitting again if they want to force me to do things in the game I don’t want to do.
I think it’s be fun if everybody had static gear. I liked war mode but when I come across someone who just stands there while I wail on them, it don’t feel very fun.
Yeah, you lose sometimes. It’s ok. Only imaginary characters died.
Ah yes, because new players and leveling players aren’t at all discouraged at being chain-ganked and then watching a response team from their side completely fall flat against the force preventing them from playing the game. Cool, might as well log then because this game’s unplayable until the Horde gets bored and moves on.
They had whole servers where that was never ever a possibility.
For those who wanted the risk, yeah you’re gonna lose, and sometimes you’ll lose big. Other times you’ll win.
If losing will ruin your experience, you picked the wrong place to play.
If whatever reason you forced yourself to play where you didn’t want to was so important that it was worth it for you to pay real money to be where your experience was likely to be ruined, that’s the decision you made.
Now why would you want to do a thing like that? My head is not a safe place to be, especially when I haven’t written in a while. Things get scary in there. … which I suppose is why I have a fan base wiki on a shorts series I did.
Bring it on. But I suspect most wouldn’t leave sanctuaries except as raids.
I play on A52, and I’d feel sorry for all 10 of the Alliance players.
If they did that, would need to go back to using my Engineer portals to get to M+ keys because every teleport spot at every dungeon will be camped by rabid swarms of MG Alliance.
Huh? You talking about the old Lich King event? If so thats NOT how it went or why it was removed.
The first month of BFA was pretty fire. Even when a lot of players started going horde, the wpvp was great.
From what I remember, the game was always war mode. If you even touch an horde you are flagged for war,I just do with it that way even today.Never truly trust an enemy.
Man it’s been so many years I can barely remember it. We could turn into ghouls and spread plague in towns which was upsetting strictly PvE players more than anything. I at least remember the multiple page long threads demanding it be removed.

The outcry from when it was released prior to Wrath Classic was mainly due to the events progressing massively different on each server or just locking to one part of the event and never progressing.
Sure some people disliked it but the main outcry was the mishandling of the rereleased event.
Way back in OG wrath I don’t have a strong enough memory of the original event so I can’t do much more than speculate about that.
