What if Blizzard sneaks in sharding/layering at

Layering can’t exist once world bosses/PvP honor system get released. That would be a dealbreaker for me and many.

Here’s a simple explanation.

We’re playing Wow right?

Wow is an MMORPG. Massively multiplayer online role playing game.
So a lot of people playing together as a role they designate in an online community.

Okay that’s easy to understand I hope.

Lets use this / symbol as a layer okay?

Lets go ahead and add a layer to our mmorpg.

M/MORPG

Look at that, Just one layer and we’re already Seperating the Massively from the Multiplayer Online Role playing game.

Lets add another

M/M/ORPG

Look at that two layers in and we’re just at an Online Role playing game.
No massively, no Multiplayer, they’re already in their own layers so we don’t get to see them or have them. Its not hard to understand, If we add even just one more layer we’re not even online anymore.

Congratulations you’re playing a role playing game by yourself.

God Forbid someone raid your city and you playing as your role want to go in to stop them from killing your leader, Just kidding they’re in a different layer and you can just go about your business pretending the world is fine.

No, it doesn’t.

Nope.

Also, not true.

No, it doesn’t show that at all. It shows that several polls I’ve seen on reddit and passing around say that somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-85% of poll responders (depending where you look) intend to play on launch day but are not currently subscribed.

That means the overload and queue we dealt with on name reservation day will be nothing compared to the overload and queue we potentially face on launch day.

Layering doesn’t stop login server crashes and lengthy queues.

/snort. Okay. Cheers, mate.

Wow I didn’t know Reddit reflected the population of any sort of community. I’m so glad i was enlightened. Go ruin some other game that you can play by yourself in.

What on earth are you talking about? What belief is it that you think I have that you’re so mad about?

I have no idea why you’re coming at me like a honey badger right now. Are you insane or have I said something to offend you?

Sorry I cant see your reply. Its in another layer.

Got it.

Go scream into a pillow or break some cheap glassware or something. I’m not your enemy and I never said a single word about layers to anyone in this thread.

So I still have no idea what you’re on about.

Oh well. Not a big deal.

I think I could quit.

I’m already annoyed with layering as is. I’m willing to put up with it for the first month or so.

My issue is that it requires, almost every single time, that I invite the person I want to meet for trade to my group. So they can get on the same layer. Its very immersion breaking. If it stays too long, it will be a deal breaker.

Well you’d lose competition for that. And the possibility of world pvp

This is a thread specifically crafted to incite the forums, and Oh! What a surprise! It did. “Troll” is thrown around so much these days it’s like you guys forgot what it means!

That’s because you’ve clearly got no idea whats going on, as we’ve discussed. Thanks for your contribution to this layering thread.

I would see the implementation of sharding or layering past the first month as a violation of blizzards promise and ability to deliver.

No troll here…

But if you remember in the Beta, they “accidentally” had sharding until someone pointed it out to them.

i personally dont have any issues with it nor see it happening but ehh

I am no fan of layering, but I am even less a fan of crashing servers, hours long queues etc. I was at the opening of AQ on my server in 2006 and the whole experience was ridiculous. Crashing server, 1 fps, and just really not being able to participate in the event. Which is worse?

I would rather have queues, crowding and competition instead of layering.

At least these problems can be dealt with by me and not hidden and exploitable like layering.

Why? Give me a good reason to agree with you other than #NoChanges!

sigh…these daily conspiracy theory threads are getting boring, you could have at least come up with an original topic for a troll post OP.

Just going to post a link to a relevant thread here :

This is an issue.
But for me the bigger problem is logging onto my server, my local community, and not being able to see friends and enemies in the game world.
Thats where the /say chats happen, the world pvp rivalries, the server events happen and thats the social fabric of wow.
