What happened to the Voices Within book?

Amazon says it has not been release but it should have released Dec 10. I am suprised no one has gotten a copy yet/spoiled the last story.

According to Amazons pre-ordering, it’s not releasing until Jun 2025. Might explain things a bit

It says expected Jan 4th on Amazon. Also I ordered the thing Feb 20, 2024.

Holy hell…

pls quit paying blizzard to tell you lies about the setting.

You do realize all stories are “lies”? Right? That these are not based on true events?

And even giving the more generous interpretation of you dont think it will be canon/will be retconned does not mean a story suddenly loses its inherent value?

How can the author “lie” about there own story? I take it you don’t like the story, and you can disagree with outcomes or point out they got something wrong, but you cant “lie” about making up your own story.

I would also point out we already know like 5/7 of the stories considering they are a compilation of the shorts. So I already know the quality of most of the story and I just want a physical copy of said story(personally because aside from I generally like the story, I like collecting them)

an example being sylvanas thinking to herself that she didn’t want to be warchief.

dumb.

…What?
How is this lying? These were not real events, its made up, fiction, fantasy, story telling.

((Are you messing with me? XD))

She did want to be Warchief.
She wanted to kill as many members of the Horde and Alliance as possible to feed Zovaal.

Ah I see what you mean now.
To that I would say this is an example of Blizzard getting something wrong (retconning?). Lying has a meaning of purpose to it.

He is calling retconning lying basically, his example of sylvanas is because every person who took a crack at sylvanas had a different idea of who she was so it leads to a convoluted mess where she says things in her own internal monologues which turn out to be not true

I understand. Yeah the Sylvanas story and any story tied to the SL is really hard to follow. As bad as it sounds, I actually think they might need to retcon things at a certain point, hopefully not making it worse.

Then again, its there story, I guess they can do whatever they want with it.

they will retcon anything and everything they want at the drop of a hat, and they write books to do it. so you’re paying them to lie to you.

I feel like you might have a better time explaining that they retcon stuff a lot, instead of saying they are lying to you. But I will probably continue to buy their books either way, retcons dont really bother me anymore.

But as Danuser put it, and Blizzard has repeatedly reaffirmed, they are going the “unreliable narrator route”.

They want to do this so they can’t be held accountable for anything they say or do with the story.

It is completely unearned, however, because instead of setting up legitimate areas with vague answers, they’re just saying “The alliance is always right. The Horde is always wrong.”

Which is exactly what they’ve portrayed since bfa with the troll literally lying about Rastakhan’s death scene and earlier, Sylvanas becoming Warchief.

I dono man, I picked Alliance back in 2007 after reading all the lore and deciding “Eh, Horde seems kinda in the wrong in most areas.”. This was long before Garrosh, BfA, Theramore, etc.
But now of days I really dont think it matters, Blizzard really seems to be leaning the focus away from faction conflicts for a good couple of years now. Even the new skirmish in the Arathi Highlands was short lived. I dont see much of a point being stuck in the BfA era when neither faction is even how it used to be. shrugs

This is a gross misreading of what I’m conveying.

Blizzard sets up two cutscenes:
The one they play for the Alliance is completely correct, true, and canon.
The one they play for the Horde is not.

AH!
Yes THAT was really bad. When I found that out it honestly made me wonder how much previous stuff was like that with questlines and stuff lol.
