What happened to Horde vs Alliance?

Does anyone actually prefer these new storylines where Horde and Alliance are just 1 faction? I personally miss faction conflict. The current plot lines are so lame.

Yes because faction wars go like this in WoW:

  • Horde commits war crimes by slaughtering cities full of people (Theramore and Teldrassil)
  • Alliance retaliates with military action
  • The leader of the Horde slowly goes insane and bigoted
  • The rest of the Horde start open rebellion against the leader of the Horde
  • Alliance helps the Rebellion take down the now evil Horde
  • We then team up and take down a big bad.

Much easier to just skip steps 1-5 and go straight to 6 instead of writing the same story over and over pretending it’s new and thought provoking.

No one ends up happy with the outcome of Faction Wars. If they want to write an impactful faction story they need to put one side at a serious disadvantage and lose outright with most leaders dead. It will just never happen.

After BFA, and the cluster that is PvP, I cannot imagine a great sorrow for this conflict

It ended after BFA narratively.

If you still want it in gameplay, warmode and BGs are there for you.

The faction conflict has long since gotten boring. Maybe if they could figure out a new story to tell, but they seem to only have 1 arc they just rehash with it.

Besides, I’ve teamed up with Thrall so much we might as well have a weekly poker game going at this point.

No we don’t accept it.

We are just waiting and taking notes on how many cases we can build up on the traitor Thrall.

He so badly wants to be a human peon. He is good boot licker.

Its nice for a change. And it leads to hilariously awkward moments for Rosenivy. Known Nelf hater. Having to pretend to be buddies with the nelves just so they don’t give him any sass while he’s working.

Many many lil eyelid twitches as he’s got the retail smile face. It entertains me.

The annoying thing is Blizzard actually thinks Horde players want to play as the “good guys”… I’d love to play the evil faction in the game committing war crimes and atrocities. Thats way more fun than being goodie goodie and they absolutely don’t need to make any plot-line where the evil faction ends up actually being defeated. The faction conflict can go on forever while simultaneously having external threats as well.

Tbh, I was hoping for a storyline of Turalyon going full Garrosh with his hatred of the Horde. He’s the one in charge of Stormwind in Anduin’s absence… But instead he’s just there to tell Alleria he loves her.

Give the Alliance some edge, we need it.

Like we can’t see what he is planning.

I assume you paid no attention to the campaign then if you believe this.

It’d just be for Warcraft 1, Warcraft 2 nostalgia at this point.

They for some reason decided that the whole theme of the game was no longer important … But hey if your going to go full dummy, at least let us random queue together too

nah, don’t miss it, bfa tried and it felt like a major whiff, I’m fine with the conflict mostly in bgs/world pvp.

It’s like if in Independence Day they had a subplot where Spain was invading Portugal for whatever reason. World’s always about to end, we may not like each other but there are higher priorities.

OK, this made me chuckle. Well done!

It got played out to death, resurrected multiple times and played out some more.

Blizzard realized there was no way to do it justice when you have paying subscribers playing both sides.

Faction rivalry is still a thing, and you’ll see that in the level 80 campaign (Turalyon and the Mag’har leader). Faction war has been done to death, through multiple expansions. It’s time to move on.

Well see 20 years ago there was a little battle at Hyjal and the horde and alliance realized it was stupid to keep fighting. Then new devs who didn’t like WC3’s story but really wanted to use its art style threw the best story they’d written yet in the trash to satisfy the most toxic playerbase in a mmo yet until they were surprised that the players were angry at them rather than each other over the faction war garbage they wrote.

Yeah… judging by the outcry, the player base tank and the creation of lots of Alliance alts and all the threats against Blizz I’d say your one of the minority that wants that. Seems the bulk of the Horde player base wasn’t a big fan of being the bad guys
