Because the walk on water and fish form still work when you have fishing gear set to be seen. Just cast once and you’re in Jesus mode.

I still like my old Kalu’ak Fishing Pole from wrath for the underwater breathing. Definitely not the best though.

Ya but you don’t get as much. More perception means more likelyhood of getting the more rare items.
lol yes the profession enchants you can enchant to fishing poles lol… what you kids think the +6 to fishing line is…? an enchant, what is +40 perception…? an enchant!

Perception tends to be worth more than + skill so ima go with the khazgorite fisherfriend.

I’ve been trying the green fisherfriend vs the underlight angler off and on (I haven’t gotten the khaz’gorite recipe yet) but the drops are so rare that it’s been impossible for me to draw any conclusions about how much perception a point of fishing is worth (if any).
Having rare drops to chase but not knowing if what I’m doing is helping or hurting my chances kind of kills the zen of fishing (for me).

That is my current view as well. I have been doing the same thing. I like the water walking and shark swimming form a LOT so tend to use that for fast questing/fishing. However, if I want upgrade mats for the Tuskar fishing items, I use the one with perception.
Someone random in chat gave away a fancy Khazgorite rod last night as part of profession leveling so I know have that to try. Ty random person! I think I was the only one to ask them for it too when they offered. We need more fishing aficionados!

Khaz. I just banked my Underlight Ang. The perception is more useful. I drink perception potion, have enchanted perception and there’s perception on my fishing Rod and I easily fish up coins. Even fished up a gold coin. And I got my tuskaar equipment done in 2 days
My assumption is that perception for fishing acts as a multiplier for rare items. Like if getting a coin is a 1% chance by default, having a maxed out fisherfriend (110), enchanted (40), and using a phial (50) would boost it to something like 1.2%.
I don’t fish enough to really care though, I’ll keep the Angler just because I get much more use out of the swim speed buff.
There is a secret to that even if you don’t have the fancy perception rod 
Share with the class because without perception you finna be casting in overheated lava pools for quite some time. I also got Otto in under an hour. Took no time at all to fish up the rare. Either my fishing rng was on lucky dog, or the perception was perception’ng!

Perception enchant and r5 fisherfiend is for sure the better option. Even like 20 extra perception is noticeable, it’s a huge different for dragonflight fishing to collect coins/recipes
