It depends on how much fishing you do. If you spend a few hours a day casting and reeling 'em in, then that minor buff to perception is going to yield dividends. If not, then go with whichever one you like the looks of more.
Perception lets you get more rare stuff that can sell for alot on the auction house. Which is major fishing buffs to profitablility. Outside that it isn’t really profitable to use the old fishing rods. Depends on what you want to fish for but for gold, definitely the perception stuff.
What is it!? I am genuinely curious. I stopped trying for that equipment agaes ago due to the bad rng with the fishing rod and nets.
That there really. The Overheated lava pools have fantastic drop rates on the upgrade stuff. However, the Blue mats come from fishing nets (or big lunkers) I find and are account bound so you can do the fishing nets on all your eligible chars for the Blue upgrade mats. While those go, hit the Overheated lava pools. Those have very good drop rates, even higher with perception. I did it with my Underlight though.
It will still be hours, but it won’t be anywhere near as big a slog. They spawn pretty fast around the lava fishing hole as long as you fish the normal ones too to make them respawn.
Oh, and Lunkers for the gold coin for Otto too. That took me all of 15 mins, but I realize I was really lucky! Went fast in a big group.

Those lunker groups are an abomination that should never have been allowed to exist.

Sadly, the Underlight Angler went the way of the dodo. I would love to be able to transmog fishing rods, however.
Have to camp out in lava areas and fish until you see an overheated lava pool. Then use perception elixir, perception rod, and perception enchant and hope for the best. But yeah that’s how you do it. You also can get it from the pristine fish in Ohna plains, and last from the Deep Ice holes but I personally wouldn’t recommend either.
Perception seems to be pretty key. I think the fisher friend is the way to go.
might as well enchant the underlight angler with perception then cause that fisher friend is ugly as hell
