Use to be an afterlife too, but Shadowlands took a giant “I’m lactose intolerant and just ate a huge cheese wedding-cake with extra cream” dump in its mouth, along with a lot of the other lore.
What use to be some of my favourite aspects of the Emerald Dream:
— Was how it was a spiritual place of inexplicability & eternity, especially for great beings of nature and wild gods, loa and those who were incredibly powerful or well-connected with nature …
How they stated the Emerald Dream was something that existed between all realms of the universe, yet unique to each world – influenceable by the touch of the titans, world souls and other great beings, so much so that its very existence & origins were an enigma. To a certain degree — That’s how all the realms of Shadowlands should have been …
Instead we got:
“Oh yeah um nothing is actually eternal, or spiritual — or even mystical, yeahnah mate its all robots aye, the godlike eternals themselves along with the realms they guard over – oh and the realms without new life, crumble away to dust so when all life is dead, or if you’re in a solitary afterlife — Poof, your realm is gone mate. Also yourself. Souls aren’t eternal without new life coming in via dying either so yeah … Eat dung and die.”
