What does touch grass mean?

I see it in people’s comments and most of the time i laugh, but i didnt want to insult anyone who might already be offended.

I dont know if this is a Troll post or not, but it means “go outside”.

The implication is that the person being insulted hasn’t been outside in forever, due to being a shut-in no-life gamer or something similar. So the insult is to tell them to go outside for once.

Or at least that’s the usual explanation for it, anyway. Not aware of any other definition.

It’s a colloquialism. Think of it as an equivalent to “Get a life” in response to people getting nerdy over game stuff.

It’s also typically uttered by those needing to take the advice most.

touch grass. go outside and see what life is actually like, since the internet can make you forget what real people are like.
or something.

I guess, it could be abstractly looked at as “eat dirt”.

As a person severely allergic to all forms of grasses I view the phrase as wishing me grievous bodily harm, it’s a call to violence, a dog whistle against my people.

I think the phrase is rooted (pun intended) in ableism and probably some other forms of -ism’s

this may be a total fabrication
