2.) She leaves the Horde and makes a new “evil” faction
Some people say that she’ll put Bolvar into the blade and become lich queen, but IMHO, Bolvar isn’t a idiot (he’s not a Arthas) and could easily kill her before she raises the blade. Plus Bolvar is going to thaw soon.
She’s already an undead banshee. I don’t see how they could, lore wise, make her lich queen. She would need to undergo some major ret con to get there. I see other things for her future though.
In all likelihood she’ll go the way of Thrall and just be written out under some plot device for some time, and shuffled back in far enough into the future that this expansions plot is mostly-forgotten. I don’t see them killing her off.
First thing’s first, there has to be a showdown between Thrall, Rexxar, and Jaina at Theramore. This is the repeat of WC3 and Jaina’s defining moment. If she kills Thrall, she may go off the deep end and… well I play Hearthstone and my favorite card is Frost Lich Jaina.
Secondly, Since Sylvanas is left out of that ending, I believe that she will be the one to get the most exposure in the conclusion of the N’Zoth storyline in this expansion. Whether N’Zoth is defeated or not, I predict he will show Sylvanas visions of the Black Empire, which will catalyze Sylvanas’s Lich King-like motives to a critical mass. Imagine a scenario where the Black Empire rises and the only way for the mortal souls of Azeroth to remain free of the Old Gods is for the world to be united in Undeath. It has been hinted at over and over again that she is slowly becoming thee very same evil she was martyred by. Sylvanas will see Bolvar as a king who does nothing. She will break from the Horde politically (not gameplay-wise) and lead a second Northrend campaign to recruit the various races of Northrend and acquire the Helm of Domination.
Thirdly, there is a reason they introduced Taelia Fordragon. The Alliance is no doubt going to use her to commune with Bolvar in some way, whether that be to warn him of some plot by Sylvanas, recruit him to the Alliance in order to defeat her, or SOMETHING. I highly suspect that there will be confrontations between Sylvanas and characters such as Alleria, Genn, Nathanos, and possibly Vereesa which mirror Arthas’ struggles with Mal’Ganis, Illidan, Muradin, etc. which is where the Black Blade of the Empire may come in to play.
Anduin and Calia may even find out of the Black Empire’s eveentual coming themselves and attempt a plot of equal question-ability - say unite the world in a Lightforged undeath where we follow the Light in death, rather than the will of one being. A redeemed Bolvar Fordragon via the Naaru Saa’ra could be interesting.
That doesnt mean they wont. hell they could have 4, The Night Elves could slit away and form their own thing . They would be allied factions with alliance and Sylvanas would be with the horde
I think that Sylvanas will only be third faction from a story perspective, with the Alliance having their own third faction possibly lead by Tyrande, or maybe even an uneasy alliance with the Scourge. Gamplay-wise, it will just open up more diverse race options for both factions. A lot of playable undead options open up if Sylvanas goes rogue in Northrend and the Alliance somehow manages to commune with and ally with Bolvar.
She dies screaming on my axe! Her foul head is mounted on a pike over the city gate, where all can see her, with anguish and hopelessness carved across her vile visage, as a warning to others.
There will be a party to remember in celebration, with the members of the Horde who joined in freeing Azeroth from this tainted…thing…will be honored.
Her former supporters, or what is left of them, get to clean up her mess.
Then we move on.
Skôl.
My theory is more that sylvanas knows some truth about death the other races don’t. It’s why she fears dying again, after actually not caring about her life for so long.
My theory is that possibly nzoth or some other being has corrupted what it means to “die” on Azeroth. It’s why bwonsambdi “protects” his servants on the other side, why the lich king is “ the jailer of the damned” and why eyir turns souls into the storm forged or w/e they are.
Something is wrong in the afterlife of WoW, which I think sylvanas knows. My thought is that she will fix it in some way, however it will cost dearly. It won’t be a redemption really, more of a it cost so much to do, only sylvanas had the non existent morals to do it.
It will come out that everything Sylvanas has done was done to stop the old gods. She is a true hero of Azeroth! She makes a heartfelt speech about the error of her ways and how she knows she has to betray people and kill friends to save the world but it was the only way!
And then with the power of friendship and love she is finally returned to life. Once full alive again she truely realizes what she had become and that now that she is alive she won’t rest until she finds a way to cure all the undead and hopes that one day Azeroth will forgive her for all she has done.
Exactly this. Sylvanas is going to have a cosmically justified reason to become the literal Lich Queen. The only way to defeat the Black Empire is to unite the world in undeath as the World Trees and afterlives are corrupted. Souls are being diverted… eventually the Black Empire will rise again and the only other plan that could defeat the old gods other than Arthas’ original plan would be for the world to be united in a different form of undeath such as the Redeemed version, where they follow the Light rather than a dominator. Both factions may have real reasons to do some darn f-d up stuff very soon.
