What do you think is next after BFA?

In my honest opinion, Battle For Azeroth is a necessary evil unfortunately as in the grand scheme of things with the over-arching storyline/lore, it’s filler… sorta like how Warlords of Draenor was essentially filler, basically just served the ultimate purpose of bringing Gul’dan back in order to summon the Burning Legion back to Azeroth and progress the story, so that Blizzard can give us the Legion expansion where real significant lore events could occur…

So Battle For Azeroth seems to be following this route… it’s essentially just a platform to set up characters, bring old characters back into the fray, progress the story/lore, and set us up for what is coming next…

While the popular speculation seems to point to and Old God expansion, with potentially N’zoth being free’d… I think there’s more to that… Sorta like how with Warlords of Draenor, and Gul’dan entering our world, we just thought we were going to fight the Burning Legion… but surprise surprise, we actually went to Argus, free’d/revived the Pantheon, and got Sargeras banished/imprisoned.

Blizzard doesn’t put all their cards on the table, they like to hold back details and significant information and surprise us… So I highly doubt that the Old Gods/Void Lords will be the next expansion, as no other expansion in WoW’s history revealed blatantly what the next expansion would be… i.e. how during TBC, we didn’t know WoTLK would be next, or that Cata would be next, or MoP after that, or WoD next, etc… So with the game pointing to and people speculating Old Gods/Void Lords will be next, that most likely a rouse.

What are your thoughts to what may be next after Battle For Azeroth?

Probably the Void lords

The thought that’s been going through my head is that we fight N’Zoth at the end of BFA, and then the next expansion we go to Azeroth’s core (not Deepholm, since it’s an elemental plane, but rather Azeroth’s actual core) to help the process of Azeroth becoming a full-grown titan, and we find out there’s this whole world inside Azeroth that we never knew about before.

TL;DR: Basically a Journey to the Center of Azeroth kind of expansion.

A death themed expansion. Sylvanas is up to no good, the LK is up to something again, who knows how bwansamdi’s story will go, helya is still alive, and who knows who/if Sylvanas is working for or helping.

As for me, I think Blizzard will surprise us all and if N’zoth is free’d… will turn out that N’zoth isn’t what we are expecting… because for what’s been going on surrounding the old gods we’ve encountered lately over the past couple expansions and in BFA, it seems more like N’zoth is aiding us… helping us to become stronger… so while players may brush this off as N’zoth wants to make us stronger so that way he can use us, and be his powerful pawns or steal our power, what if it’s actually because n’zoth is making us stronger for what’s to come…

Plus there’s the various old god whispers over the past… especially the ones alluding to Azshara has grown in power that she’s potentially now more powerful than and threatens both N’zoth and all of Azeroth (The Queen threatens the King), or maybe turns out Azeroth isn’t what we think, they aren’t good, and made a pawn out of Magni (The king of diamonds has been made a pawn).

So those are my own personal speculations for what’s next after BFA, Queen Azshara making her move to conquer Azeroth and decimate the Horde and Alliance, or Azeroth itself turning out to be bad, or worse, a tool of the pantheon, who turn out to not be what they appear and Sargeras wasn’t what we thought (as Sargeras could have destroyed Azeroth at anytime a long time ago but didn’t).

Another possibility, a Light-based threat. As hinted in the Mag’har Orc allied race questline, how in Alternate Draenor, the light is going unchecked, and are killing and forcing the Light’s will/control over the world… And hinted with Xe’ra, the Prime Naaru and how they attempted to forcefully control/transform Illidan, all evil like. So if we do eliminate N’zoth, and with no more Burning Legion, this could be what tips the scales too much and creates an imbalance between Light and Shadow, and causes Light to go unchecked, become a force of evil and start corrupting various beings with the light.

As we have been shown time and time again… The Light does not equal only good. As the Light is capable of both good and evil. This can also be a way how Blizzard can make the Alliance have some turmoil within it’s faction and it’s very own Civil War that requires the aid of the Horde to resolve, as the Alliance has many Leaders and significant Lore Characters who happen to be users/followers of the Light within it’s ranks (Anduin, Turalyon, Velen, Calia, entire Priesthood in Stormwind, order of Paladins, etc) as opposed to the Horde who’s comprised of non-light Warrior based class Leaders and has no significant Light-based lore characters. So what if a number of these leaders and significant lore characters become fanatical/corrupted like Yrel and the Draenei did in Alternative Draenor as a result of the imbalance.

Guldan would have made sense if he was in the tomb of sargeras. Him in the nighthold was just too far fetched.

Next xpac we bring back Gul’dan again.

An undead expac would be awesome

It’ll happen eventually when Blizzard wants to pull out the lich king hype.

The alliance hops ship with the army of the light and goes to a new planet. the horde claims the repurposed Azurite Cannon that was once Azeroth, renamed Death Zeroth.

Wow becomes an intergalactic warfront game, with personal flight being the least of our issues, now waiting up to 12 months just to get our Spaceship training unlocked. (Pathfinder, in Space! Part 1.)

Classes have been reduced to 4 buttons each, a functional cooldown, a cc ability, and 2 alternating damage/threat/healing dealing buttons. As well as a DDR style activated Ultimate Ability! To take your hyper strafe big energy gaming to the next level. (In space.)

The horde, partnering up with the Consortium now in hot persuite of the Rebel Alliance, needs to find two mechagnomes, who’ve escaped with the plans to the repurposed Death Zeroth. Capturing the fleeing rebel Alliance cruiser, the army of the light is defeated by Lord Nathanos, champion of Empress Sylvanas of the Intergalactic Horde Empire. Forcing the mechagnomes to jettison in an escape pod, force landing on a nearby Planet in the recesses of Space! Horde Comb the planet for the Mechagnomes, the alliance pluck along and secure the plans to mount a desperate act of resistance against the intergalactic horde empire. Patch 9.0.1

Azeroth’s core? I don’t think my phone will get good reception down there. How else am I supposed to get to my mission table app? :frowning:

Hoping for the Alliance civil war. The Horde is tasked to build bleachers to sit back and watch the carnage.

I disagree with this statement, overall I’ve loved BfA so far. As for next expansion, I’m not sure what Blizzard has in mind but I’d like to see what’s on the far side of Azeroth west of Kalimdor / East of EK (and I’ve been saying that since before GoT season 8 had aired a single episode).

Rise of the Black Empire, new Azeroth makeover.

Infinite Dragonflight and Dragon Isles.

Bolvar the Lich King and updated Northrend and DK starting zones.

yeah i too have assumed we’ll get an expansion over there sometime… as literally we know from lore, Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms only just take up a hemisphere or less of the world… and also know from lore that any ships or whatever that have attempted to sail west of EK, never were heard from again… So either it’s treacherous (i.e. violent seas) and they sunk or something is out there and they were shipwrecked (hit land and stranded) or captured/killed by unknown inhabitants.

So kinda hoping an expansion reveals what’s over there sometime… also there’s the possibility that there’s parts of Azeroth to be revealed to the south, as apparently Tanaris/Stranglethorn Vale are essentially located at the equator of Azeroth, hence why they are either dry desert or tropical rainforest like, just like along the Earth’s equator.

am I the only one that would enjoy this?

funny but sad… oh the sheer amount of complaints on the forums, especially since you have to unlock the “space helmet” (fishbowl) mount enchant to be able to use any mount in space, which requires a long grind to achieve.

We’ll get an expansion where we are all rolled back to level 1. We won’t have any combat skills or spells, nor can we earn them through game play. All skills and spells are bought through the cash shop.

The new level cap will be 300, and all exp gains from killing mobs and completing quests will be reduced by 95%. The global cooldown time will be doubled.

There won’t be any factions, races, genders, or classes. We will all be “Generic Azerothians,” and we will all look exactly the same. There won’t be any armor, so no transmog. There will be some cosmetic “looks,” which can be purchased through the cash shop.

Professions? None.

Mounts? None. We will all walk (not run, walk) everywhere. The running skill will be gone. There will be lots of snares, dazes, and stuns from mobs everywhere.

Portals? None.

The sub fee will go up to $100 per month, to make up for inflation from past years.

And the final boss of the expansion? A giant prune.

We need to actually lose against a major villain.

I’ll be highly annoyed if after all of N’zoth’s planning we just faceroll to wherever he’s located, beat him up, and everything is sunshine and rainbows again.

So hopefully an Old God themed xpac as we continue to fight N’zoth and the Void.
