And how would your everyday warden fare against your everyday warrior?
I get mostly Rogue vibes from them. Maiev was also a priestess once upon a time though I’m not sure if all Wardens need that prerequisite.
A Warden to me is like a rouge, monk, warrior mix with a few impressive spells thrown in. I think they could easily take a warrior.
Depends on what your everyday warrior is. Warden beats footman. Mountain King beats warden.
Wardens have the plate armor of a warrior (made of a special metal called Wardenscale), the general skillset of a rogue, and the magic of a priestess of Elune (bent towards the vengeance angle). They used to have some other elements, such as a mage’s blink, but in modern iterations that has been changed to be a clearly Elune-based thing.
Against an average warrior, a warden would mop the floor any day. They were the elite of the elite within the Watchers, and they are very few in number due to how skilled they need to be.
If he can catch her.
Wardens by definition aren’t your “every day” elves. They’re the Seals of Kal’dorei.
They are as yet an undefined Hero class.
There’s a group of Wardens when you claim that base in Darkshore for the first time (for the Night Warrior quest) who guard one of the flanks.

Looks like one is wielding twin daggers, one has a polearm, one has two smaller Moonglaives, Maiev has one large moonglaive, one has double fist weapons, and one has a bow (not visible in the screenshots, I believe).
Warden remains an NPC-class that amalgamates a variety of classes’ abilities.
I believe that’s an umbral crescent.
Yet Sira died in 2 min, and Illidan trashed Maiev
They made Sira so disrespectfully weak and Illidan is Illidan, of course he’s a challenge.
Yes ganged on by Champions, and it took almost two dozen of them to put her down.
Could you be any more wrong? Illidank gave Maiev a wide berth for a good reason.
- Wardens are closes to rogues, hence Maiev is an alternate skin for Valeera in Hearthstone.
- Depends on how you define “everyday warrior”. If your talking inexperienced warrior straight out from Elywynn the answer is obvious. However, if your talking about a “regular warrior” from say the 7th Legion, I think they would be pretty evenly matched.
If you include WC3 in your question: Mage and Rogue, with potentially a dazzle of Hunter in the robes.
Because Blink was the Warden Ability before it was given to mages in WoW. In addition, prior to the Alliance of Stormwind, the primary criminals and pray of the Wardens were Arcane users. It be pretty hard to catch and trap a magic user with basic rogue & hunter toolkit.
I doubt the Wardens were arcane users considering Maiev had a particular hate of the Shende’lar.
The thing about Wardens, along with many NPCs, is that they’re not really restricted by the classes player characters are bound to. We see them utilize a wide variety of skills from different classes - like Kaileena pointed out, Rogues, Warriors, Monks, and Hunters just to name a few. And like Fizzer pointed out, the Wardens in Darkshore seem to have a variety of weapons, so it’s difficult to pin it down there as well.
He absolutely did not. Maiev is probably one of the few people on Azeroth Illidan fears somewhat.
There’s too many fictional weapon names! It’s round, so my brain went: “It’s shaped like a moon. Moonglaive.”
Wardens are very clearly multiclassers a la DnD, which admitedly is pretty wierd in warcraft. Some however lean more heavily towards one class or the other.
Granted, we have several people that multispec such as LK Arthas, Khadgar and Thrall- but no one that multiclasses outright (except for HE WHO MUST NOT BE NAMED)
Anduin is clearly a Priest-Paladin and Tyrande up to recently was a Priest-Hunter. Varian was an Arms-Fury Warrior.
