I saw a video from StaySafeTV on YouTube that spoke about the survey that was sent out awhile ago about Cata. A component of that survey listed a few things that were added to Cata, which really improved, I think, the overall experience in day-to-day gaming.
Here are a few of my favorites, and if we were to get a Wrath+ verses a Cata, I’d love to see these added:
Additional BoA items (these were in 4.0.3 and really improved the leveling experience)
AoE Looting… I will never accept that people think individual looting is ‘fun’
Improved flight paths… time is money, friend.
Collections User Interface… this was, to me, such a great feature.
Reforging… look, getting a piece of loot that doesn’t really work, but being able to still make some use of it, until you get the right one… that’s happy times.
Transmog… yo, look, we just enjoy vibin in a look that’s unique to our character.
Account wide mounts and pets… I love this but it should have been a bit more limited (if you get a reward mount like a pvp mount, that should be unique to the character)
Archaeology… this was a cool system, it’s sad it was left to die. It may not be your vibe but it had potential. It also got people out into the world.
LFR… I don’t give a rip what you think about this being bad for the game. I really don’t. I love that people who may not have time, skill, or just play the game differently than I do, get to see the end game stuff. It needs improvement but I’ve always been glad it’s there.
That’s my list. You got some things you like from Cata?
So you’re telling me that you do not like the ability to have a centralized UI that allows you to view, mounts, pets, heirlooms, and toys? You want to have to go to different views for this? Why? Why is that better than have it in a central spot?
Can’t really say any of those things hurt my enjoyment of the game, in fact some of them were pretty cool. The content was what I didn’t enjoy, and the changing of the world. No, things started getting bad for me when they removed talent trees, and kept doing other stupid things like adding in stat templates for bg’s and artifact gear. Garrisons were dumb too. Everything up to MoP was basically still fine, other than healers being raid bosses that could spin a flag the entire battleground. So basically health pools were retarded later on.
In-dungeon maps were a huge boon because trying to convince new players to NOT go around in giant circles that did nothing but waste time was very frustrating.
I’m all for doing more than the absolute min/max path of efficiency but being “lost” because no one will listen is a whole other thing.
Cata was when talent trees started to die.
Costing getting 1 point every 2 levels and needing to choose a spec and take the final talent before you could put points in another tree killed of any possibility of hybrid specs
Absolutely not, this makes items boring and forgettable, homogenization has made retail worse and reforging is one of the worst system to ever be introduced
Hot take but no, removes the prestige of gear (given Classic gear isn’t very prestigious) and hurts competitive PvP
Sure
Sure
LFR needs to die in hell and never be even considered for Classic, I am willing to sacrifice RDF to never see LFR ever again. That system is by very far the worst addition in the history of WoW
I mean, it gets the job done. Worse then normal? Yes. Let’s people see content? Yes. Equal or slightly better than world quest loot? Yes.
I’ve ran LFR in every expansion since it’s been added and I honestly believe the worst version was WoD when they took away lower item level gear than normal, but had a different color/dye and threw in generic, ugly quest greens as apperance.
