Wh…that’s what every expansion does. Hello? Am I missing something here? Also, who’s to say that Blizzard isn’t going to do a Classic+? Where they add new content that they didn’t get to before BC came out or trying out newer ideas with the same system? Hell even if they’re going to BC, that’s doing the exact same thing Retail is doing right now.
Oh Darling, Back in the day I main a pally tank and often a warrior got removed for me(sips a little wine) but I was a well known tank
Prove it:
Because I don’t think it actually is.
Please don’t be silly. You’ve heard the news.
I think it was stated in their last quarterly earnings call that Classic WoW has not only brought back millions of players to WoW, but has led to the biggest sub growth in the games history.
Anti-Classicers deny reality to keep their little bubbles intact.
I’m currently on a break from classic because of the beginning chaos of phase 2, I still have fun on retail, but damn if I ignored a fact I’d look silly.
They’re the type of the people that cried about silver proving grounds in WoD. They don’t care how dumb they look.
Classic gained the most subs in a quarter for Blizzard in all of WoW’s history. how many subs has BFA earned?
There is no denying that classic is a huge success, but to openly deny and think that the “forgotten” issues of old haven’t returned is just as foolish as the anti-classicers.
Sure, I have fun on my DPS zero issues, but when moving to a tank toon despite as being not as abundant as DPS, still get randos yelling about switching specs cause certain classes are better if forced into generalization roll. Just like before - “open and caring community” until they truly want to relive the past.
Until that gets fully addressed, classic will quickly roll over from huge success to compliant mediocrity.
Found it.
Most of what you retailers consider to be problems with Classic are actually why Classic is succeeding. Classes and specs being homogenized to achieve a state of ‘balance’ so that a group of crybaby hybrid mains are appeased is one of the reasons why the game’s popularity declined over time.
And as for Classic’s staying power - It didn’t decline back in the day, it showed no signs of slowing down during Nostalrius’ rise. You want Classic to not be good and popular so badly, you’re banking on it failing in the future but it won’t.
If this is such a major problem, why hasn’t Classic failed yet?
Is that even still really the case? Are there more people on Classic than retail?
Please point out explicitly where I stated I personally wanted it to fail and denied it’s success.
I don’t want it to fail, as well I don’t wish to relive the same idiotic tropes from 13years ago either. To deny that the tropes from then are not back is as foolish as denying classic’s success, but as well too, many classes didn’t get to see their full potential until after expansions started coming.
Rose tinted glasses. The nostalgia hasn’t worn off (hopefully it will) people are reliving classic to the fullest - all the good and bad but overlooking any and every thing negative cause it doesn’t fit within their own agenda, and when pointed out - they begin to go on personal level of attacks instead of staying open to it and assist in deterring the issue.
While Blizzard will more than likely never speak on the exact numbers, in their recent earnings call which I linked they stated that Classic drove the single largest increase in subscription plans with the playerbase remaining elevated into Q4.
I mean…I’ll admit Classics faults any day. But to claim that it’s solely rose tinted glasses is still overlooking and continuing to blind yourself to the fact that there is a crowd of players who prefer this style of MMORPG. Even with Shadowlands in the horizon I’m more interested in what they’re doing post Phase 6 because in my eyes what they’ve been doing in Retail just isn’t working.
BFA is not a celebrated expansion and will only be one if Shadowlands turns out to be an even worse experience.
Which is fine, and perfectly logical, retail is, in nicest words is well can’t say without being censored, but it is fine for a person to like one over the other and like both. Just remember classic, nor retail is the end all be all second coming either.
Personal experiences don’t speak for the community as a whole, but should be used as insight of what other may have or maybe will encounter(ed), good or bad despite the version they chosen to play. How many times has a small issue that has gone ignored (by both community and devs) become something bigger? Too many times, retail is the prime example; from community created issues to back room development issues - and if classic isn’t careful or self-aware of it, these small “i never seen/had to deal with this issue so, it is a non issue” will turn into a mountain. Doomed to repeat, reap what you sow, careful for what you wish for, etc.
Classic is a better game the BFA in every way possible. At least you can finish a character and feel good about it rather then running on a treadmill waiting for that titanforge or grinding a worthless mcguffin without end until its removed and made worthless the next xpac.
There is a reason Classic broke sub records and BFA is holding on but only just.
One can only hope that retail will adopt some of the classic traits. Things like no auto que for raids and dungeons and the best gear being exclusively earnt through killing bosses and no catch up mechanics between raid tiers.
