Mhmm. And that was nineteen-ninety what? (Looks it up) 1996.

1996 and Jay Kay’s lamenting over virtual insanity. I wonder what he and the other members of Jamiroquai think about how life has changed in the past 25 years in regards to technology. In '96 “virtual insanity” amounted to computer and video games, and that old-school “VR” where you had to wear a small TV strapped to your head in order to escape into 320x200 16-color “virtual reality.”

Jeez, we had just gotten into flip-phones in '96.

Yikes. :grimacing:

Great track tho, a classic! And a most excellent video.

I was reading a Quora post on why most people remain single these days, and that song hit the nail on the head. No one goes out anymore to get to know strangers, they just remain behind the technological barriers that we’ve all created for ourselves, tinder, fb, insta, etc. all are walls we put between ourselves and others.

We’ve become less and less ‘social’ and way more ‘media’. The metaphor he uses of ‘now there is no sound because we all live underground’ is eerily accurate, especially with C-19

Thanks for sharing his music. Big loss in my mind.

And speaking of jazz fusion, found this gem recently:

As soon as that fretless Fender Jazz Bass comes in, you know Jaco is on that stage. And then Joni starts singing.

Edit to add: Listening to your video more closely, Frank is such a magician on the guitar. I remember when he stopped by the Baked Potato club in North Hollywood, when Chris Poland and his band Ohm was playing.

And example of them at the Potato (the drummer, Kofi, is Ginger’s son):

I like Shadows & LIght too, one of the better concert videos in my library.

Listening to that Ohm show now, good stuff. I don’t think I’ve heard them before.

They were a local L.A. band made up of some heavy hitters: Poland was from Megadeth, and Kofi Baker - I believe their second drummer - is Ginger Baker’s son.

It’s a bit heavier, more metal influenced fusion.
