What are Warriors like in TBC?

How are Warriors in TBC compared to Classic? Can someone help me understand and explain this to me? I’m a Warrior main and I’d like to play as one in TBC but I gotta know if it’s worth it or not. Opinions and thoughts? Explanations?

Prot warriors are gonna be the strongest tanks at the start because they aren’t as gear dependent as paladin and druids. Bout halfway through T5, they drop to the bottom of the tanking totem pole but are still 100% viable. Fury warriors are really weak and not popular. Arms are alittle better off, but their main drawing point is a physical damage buff for the group that they bring. In a meta group you will probably only see a prot and a single arms warrior in a raid. You can of course take more and be just fine, but, if you don’t currently have a guild and a guaranteed raid spot with them, then finding one may be difficult because of the large warrior population in classic wow.

Dps warriors are not top of the dps logs in bc. you’ll generally only see a couple for raid buffs.

Prot wars are the same as druid and paladin tanks.
Each one is slightly better at one thing but all are capable of performing the “mt” role.

This is so wrong. It’s not that they’re weak and unpopular, they start out weak but still scale incredibly well and they don’t bring a raid utility (compared to arms) so for that reason they might be less desirable. Their damage will be fine at the start to excellent late game.

Yea this. Fury is really strong at the start, falls off a little, then comes back strong in late T5/T6. Any fight they can cleave they’ll be at/near top dps, but they do lack a relevant (de)buff other than maybe comm shout/TC which eats into their dps. And a lot of fights are just generally melee unfriendly in TBC.

Yea not so much. You could argue for druid tanks in early T6, but then they get hit by the sunwell debuff. Pally tanks are almost always strictly AOE tanks. They can tank a lot of raid bosses sure, but they’re inferior to warriors/druids in pretty much every way

Druids and paladins have self heals. Warriors don’t.

Yes fury scales well but they are trash at launch til late T5/T6. They still bring no utility and they won’t touch hunter, mages, locks or rogues with glaives so they still won’t be taken to raids often then. And yes they will be at bottom of the pole cause you’ll want a prot paladin for AoE and your better off with 2 ferals going into T6. They are weaker then Feral and don’t have paladins niche aoe tanking so they are least desired.

Bloodthirst?
Second wind?

Yeah they’re defiantly not as good but still a form of self healing.

We are starting at version 2.4.3, so I do not think the gear issues pallys and druids had at the beginning of TBC will be as big an issue in TBCC.

All three tank classes will all be equally good from day one.

Extremely weak “self heals”, so weak they don’t count. But if you are one of those people who gets an esteem boost from arguing semantics on the interwebz, have at it sir

Well i did state that they are not as good.

No i was merely correcting your post which is in fact, wrong.

They won’t be stacked for dps as they are in vanilla classic.
If you don’t plan to tank then reroll. They are prob the best single target tanks still in tbc. Some would argue that im sure.

Edit-as others have pointed out they are great in arena if that’s your thing. Twos with a druid was really popular if i remember right.

Boost that low self esteem with semantics arguments. I fully support you doing you boo. :blue_heart:

They are good in everything but they aren’t the best at both tanking and DPS in raid anymore.

You know the same can be said for people that can’t admit when they’re wrong and proven wrong. Low self esteem much?

Personal opinion here:
warrior tanks are still reasonably good, all well-round choice, but a bit average, you get what I mean, just like a Toyota car.
Warrior dps in the raid group is not that ideal, but every group will have at least one. I bet there wouldn’t be more than 2 spots.
Warrior is great a great team player in arena and you can find lots of good combo with it.
But it is not so great in world pvp or solo 1v1

Don’t believe all the doom and gloom you hear about from the forums.

Warriors are solid tanks and they become great DPS later on in the expansion.

Join any pugs lately? Super hard to find MTs the past couple weeks.

Now hang outside of Org/SW, have a few duels, and notice the unusual amount of low level Warlocks and Hunters flooding in

That’s supposedly how bad Warriors are in TBC

Warriors aren’t optimal but they are strong. Comes BT and Sunwell, and both Fury and Arms will be really good. You will not beat Hunters and Warlocks at the DPS meter but you can definitely be up there.

Like any class that relies heavily on Crit and a couple of other stats, you start off weak at the expansion.

And in PvP, Warriors can be gods and do really well against two of the most annoying classes in arena (warlocks and rogues).
