I know that Class Trials cannot get a certain amount of farmable rare drops, like Alani, Huolon, etc. because their high level status makes abuse easy, but does the same apply to veteran accounts? Considering they are level 20 only.
If I kill Shadowlands or BFA rares for, say, toys, can I loot those?
Also, what’s the gold situation? If I log in to a sub 20 character that has much more than 1000 gold, what happens? I assume you can’t get more, but can you spend it? I’ve been thinking of farming and crafting those jeweled panthers but I can’t do that if I can’t buy an Orb of Mystery with the gold I already have.

Here’s a link to the restrictions on a Starter Edition account (which is any account without game time).

I’ve had my second account since TBC or Wrath and it was unsubbed. It’s upgrade to SL. Couldn’t check my mail until I put a sub back on it.

I know what a starter account is. I’m asking about veteran accounts, and in particular the problem of gold carried over from when you were subscribed which is not possible on starter accounts and not covered by the support article.
The Class Trial limitations are not fully explained in the support article either; fans have compiled lists of rares that you can and can not loot despite the support article claiming all rares are unlootable. So I am wondering if there are similar hidden issues with veteran accounts.
I know I can’t access mail or the auction house, but the raw materials I want to buy come from a vendor.
What’s a “Veteran” account?
Blizz only looks at accounts as having game time or not having game time. If you have game time, there are no real restrictions. If you don’t have game time, your account reverts to “Starter” restrictions.
I’m not aware of any hidden restrictions either. Nor have I seen any blue posts hinting at or covering any such restrictions.

It was instituted in 6.1. It’s the “version” of starter accounts given to lapsed subscriptions rather than new players trying the game out. The differences include being able to join guilds, but I’m not sure it’s completely limited to that.

Then that’s what I linked above. A lapsed account (with no game time), are subjected to starter restrictions

How many times am I going to have to explain that gold in excess of 1k, which starter accounts are literally unable to earn, is what I’m wondering about? I want to know if it’s frozen or if I can spend over the 1k limit.

You will be restricted to 1000 gold. If you spend any of it, you will have to re-earn it. You will not be able to access any excess gold from your previous amounts.

There is no difference. The support article (and the restrictions) apply to any inactive account, regardless of whether it had ever been previously active.

From letting my RAF account lapse what I saw is that you can’t loot any more gold once you reach 1000 gold, but you can spend it. AFAIK you can spend any gold on that character, not just the 1000 gold limit, until you are under 1000 gold.

You will not be able to play any character that you have over level 20, and yes, the money will be locked at the limit, If you have a lower level character with a lot of gold, I’m not sure if you lose the gold, but you will not be able to get any more gold on it.
I leave about 100k on a 20.
I just spent some on one alt, the had 84k on them. Bought more BoA.
You want to buy the BoA’s 500/750 and upgrades at 1k gold.
Ya many days played on my less than 20’s.
I paid one 60 day time on my other account. I did it for Cromies time and bought the Guild BoA’s as well, had that account for 6 years and in the paid time I made AH sales of the drops.
Off topic… Still downloading the game, but it has a PLAY BUTTON NOW .
BOO YA
Edit on Lethwort- in Grizzleweald he is a 14 twink Worgen Druid.
He has garrason and just had flying in Stormwind!
