What addon manager are people using?

Not sure if Curseforge is working yet, but I know alot of my addons arent even loaded or listed. Curious what people are using.

Curseforge. WoWUp doesn’t support TBC yet. At least it didn’t this morning.

Curseforge. Seems to be in working order. Doesn’t mean the addon creators are on the ball. I’m having problems with a couple.

I wouldn’t expect people maintaining add-ons for zero compensation to “be on the ball”.

Until blizzard lifts their silly “no monetizing add-ons” policy, you’ll get what they give.

Was I complaining? Didn’t think I was. Thank you for your input. :woman_facepalming:

Did anyone say you were complaining? Didnt think anyone did. Thanks for your input.

All of my Curseforge addons via Overwolf are broken.
The choices appear to be:

  1. Download the TBC addons from Curseforge manually
  2. Use Wowup instead

Yea I was just curious, I dont expect authors to be on the ball a day later after patch. bartender4 works as well as my nameplate addon so the game is functional heh.

Curseforge is working for me. :man_shrugging:

Yes you can manually download addons for TBC from Curseforge but if you are using Overwolf as the addon manager, it’s not showing a drop down option for TBC.
At least it wasn’t 4 hours ago before I left for work.

I didn’t manually download them. Curseforge worked as expected. I did have to manually add the Classic Era folder, however. And it originally listed my TBC as Classic. Open up your configuration settings and make sure they’re point to the right place:

TBC → _classic_

Classic → _classic_era_

I downloaded WowUp this morning and it wasn’t filtering. Then I clicked the update button in the bottom right corner and now it is filtering between Classic Era and Classic (TBC). Seems OK. I will review a few installers this week and see which one I like best on a go forward basis (I was using that Curse Over…something or other).

As if I even understand that, I’m really old.
Configuration settings in a WoW folder?

Wowup via GitHub will be easier for me to use.

Wowup is working just fine for me (v2.3.0). The only hiccup I have seen is with Weak Auras as it has two separate updated files:

Weakauras-3.4.1-bcc.zip
Weakauras-3.4.1-classic.zip

Make sure you download the correct version.

I can relate, I’m old too. Use whatever works for you.

If you want to twiddle with Curseforge:

  1. Click the gear icon in the lower left-hand corner
  2. In the left column, select 'World of Warcraft" under “Game Specific”
  3. This page will list the installation configurations for your multiple clients (retail, TBC, Classic Era, etc.)
    a. Click the top pulldown menu labelled “Game Instance”. There should be an option for each of your installations.
    b. For each one, make sure the Windows filesystem path to the installation area is correct.
    c. If you are missing one (as I was Classic Era) you will need to manually add it.

Manually adding an installation (client.)

  1. Click the three vertical dots in the upper right-hand corner
  2. Select “+ Manually add a game” This will open a windows explorer window.
  3. Navigate to the missing client (for example: C:\<whereever>\World of Warcraft\_classic_era_\ and click “Select Folder”

That’s it.

Thanks for the very detailed answer.
Yeah I know my Curseforge (On Overwolf) is missing Classic Era.

But Overwofl has stated they are doing a fix for later today for TBC add ons.
But the easier solution seems to be use WowUp.

I mean I could manually download the addons for TBC from Curseforge and manually extract them to the corect folder but just using WowUp seems like an easier solutin since they are already good with TBC.

wowup has supported tbc since yesterday, you need to update it in the lower right corner.

Switched to WowUp a while back. It’s updated to TBC already and working fine.

Wowup does. Make sure you update to 2.3.0 and also rescan installs from options

I switch between CurseForge and WoWUp. This morning CurseForge wasn’t updating and WoWUp was so that was my choice.

I notice CurseForge doesn’t always rescan the folders as I frequently wipe and replace my add-on folders while WoWUp has a rescan option so when I do a clean it shows no add-ons rather than whatever I had last time, so presently WoWUp is my go to.
