I know a few people use several addons or mods to help the UI or other aspects of the game. Curious to see what everyone uses?
What are some good ones and why?
The only one I have used was Questie for classic.

The recommended tends to be Weakauras if you aren’t able to (Or rather willing to) keep track of mechanics but I never used it personally or have a reason to. There’s another one that allows you to change your entire UI HUD in any way you want as well (Think it is called Bartender?)
Though my surefire suggestion is Details!, assuming your PC is beefy enough to run games in high quality/60fps to run Details! as it is extensive and resource intensive but it really helps keep track of DPS and Healing, among other things that you and players do. I use it just for making sure my groups are lagging behind somewhere.
If you want RP related. Grab TRP3, Emote Splitter, Listener, and Cross RP. These don’t actually contribute to the core gameplay but if you like to roleplay, these are the go to Addons.
My all time favorite addon is All The Things. It’s a collection addon that shows literally everything you need to collect. It’s so handy being able to mouseover a rare and see what mog I’m missing from it.
Oh wow. Thank you! Will look into some of these for sure.
Do people use Curseforge still or are there better options?
Curseforge is the go-to site for addons. There are others but I tend to not find addons I care for. I wouldn’t recommend using its software and install the addons manually (Which is not hard at all). The only time I recommend it is if you’re considerate enough to turn off the addon manager after doing your install/update business and have so many mods across multiple games other than just WoW. The reason being that is the program is a resource hog in itself.
With that said, if its just WoW and maybe something else. When doing updates. At least for WoW, you can just copy/paste the newer versions and overwrite the older ones since most of WoW’s saving system is accessed elsewhere, not the addon files themselves.
TRP3. Even if you don’t RP, getting yourself immersed into the world and your character is just fun. Also it’s fun to read folks hilarious profiles sometimes.
Elvui, can’t go back to regular version anymore.
Forgot what it was called but starts with a K that changes the quest log UI. Vanilla was clogging up the screen.
I also use Consoleport, too lazy to learn from playing KB&M again lol.
One of them ones where you can make a RP profile.
praying that DF bars are now
worth a dang
so i can stop using ELVui

I don’t use a UI one. There’s a quickbind option now for keybinds and it’s pretty solid.
if it weren’t for savedinstances and altoholic i wouldn’t be able to handle 27+ characters getting stuff done, particularly during holiday events
Wouldn’t be surprised if Elvui is still better. The customization it offers is too nice to pass up. Them taking this long to have an edit mode doesn’t exactly give me confidence about the change.
It’s nice to see them catch up though.
Who uses mods / addons. Those are for the weak. Are you a weakling Zagg? Not from your name. Do not disappoint me!
i only use it for moving bars
the plates i use something different
like you i dout anything blizz
does is for the better
I don’t use addons at all. For some reason I can’t stick with some modded UI. I install the addon, play for 15 ish minutes, and delete them all.
Basic UI for me is more than enough.
Probably because you’re more familiarized with Vanilla over anything modded which is understandable. Took me a while to get adjusted to modded UIs and more time to move those UIs around before I was satisfied with it.
I don’t know. I created some ElvUI profiles that many in my guild are using. I try some black frames, new name plates, etc etc. But then I get bored with it fast , and just switch back to old UI.
I can’t stick with something to long
Is it really? Are you saying if I disable it my WoW will run better?
I use the CurseForge website to download all my add-ons. I will tell you what I use but keep in mind I only solo play, and I do a lot of pet battles. So, you wont see any raid addons here.

I’m not a fan of the new UI, there’s still entirely too much customization missing. I’ll be sticking with ElvUI.
