Everything everyone is complaining about was also a thing last season.
Ret having a lot of utility to counter this fast meta probably helps. If you had a slow meta everyone would be complaining about feral right now.

This. Fast meta with strong go stops. Good tier set bonuses. Strong defensive CDS. This all makes for them to be an apex class as they can excel at all elements of arena currently.
And they have horses too !

They way they’re zipping around, I think they have Gandalf’s Horse Shadowfax. I took a hoof to the face and rerolled DH.

Meta sped up, other classes nerfed, ret buffed.
Last season ret was one of the lowest meaningful damage classes, so their cds weren’t as relatively insane.
That being said, ret+dh/hunter were still excellent, they just weren’t quite as crazy as DH+X or war+mage.
Meta resulting in most rounds ending faster increased the value of their cd’s and made 5 minutes vs 3 minutes irrelevant. Also their toolkit is fine IF they don’t also do TOP TIER damage.
I’d prefer they keep their toolkit because it fits thematically, and in many lore books paladins have used many abilities similar to the ones in paladins toolkit, even including searing glare and blinding light.
But they cannot maintain peak damage and peak tool kit, I personally think their damage is what should be effected most, but that puts them into some kind of weird support role where the expectation is that they extend games so long that their team mates win via attriction and I don’t know how that fits into the arena theater.

They gave it a bunch of buffs very early on.
Season 1, I saw a lot of calls for feral to be nerfed. You know better than me but I’m assuming in a slow meta feral would be king.
ret is also busted in pve. Best dps spec in pvp and pve
Not really. 
If anything it’s close to bottom of the charts in raid enough to warrant them closing their cord again.
