What a joke

Cool blizzard, way to segregate new players now having to do Normals, Heroics and now Mythic dungeons, Because gate-keeping like this wasn’t a major factor of driving a majority of your player base away from retail… What an absolute joke.

I can already see it. “LFM XXX dungeon M+, have #ilvl

But gotta force as many players into predatory/shady transactions just to stay relevant to do even dungeons eh?

This already happens with people demanding higher ilvl from group members than whatthe proposed run can drop. All you have to do is add “X trinket/Y weapon/Z ring hard reserved” on top of it.

There are people demanding t6 gear for Gruul and Mag right now ffs.

Maybe I’m misremembering, but I thought back when gear score was a thing, people still required a certain score for dungeons and raids however many years back.

you literally don’t have to do anything in this game… You can sit at lvl 1 in town dancing on a mailbox if you like

Those people are idiots and should be laughed at and mocked.

The whole point of dungeons is to allow a catch-up mechanic farming badges for moderate gear upgrades that allows new players to join current raids with little to no barrier of entry. This ideal completely shatters that because now you can’t even farm dungeons for the appropriate badges at heroic, and the pool of players even willing do normal heroics will be much less.

But I can’t say I’m surprised at all, when you have a lead dev who actively promoted predatory mythic raid carries for an obscene amount of gold via tweets.

Can’t implement RDF, even for low levels, because then they can’t actively abuse or gain advantage over new comers players then. Let’s force them into as many micro transactions and predatory systems as much as possible.

They are trying to design a system to reward geared players to take advantage of casual/new comers as much as possible. It’s so pathetic I am at a loss for words at this point.

I guess you don’t make your own groups or you expect people to princess carry you through content?

Do you have the link for this change?

Nope. It is only relevant for people joining/returning after a new raid tier starts. If you stay current with raiding, the gear in H+ will always remain lower ilvl than what you have access to.

But it is not what the OP is claiming.

Granted, but what youre saying H+ will cause is in fact, already happening, has been happening for years and has zero to do with H+.

Yes and they near universally demanded GS that was higher than the best gear available from whatever they were running because GS and the people who used it were near universally smooth brained ultra lazy idiots who wanted princess carried thru content to masterloot themselves all the gear they could.

You realize people do that with raids in wrath and also ask for achievement link with it?

I expect new players to not be gate-kept on the very basic introduction of social-activity once they hit max level. The introduction of Ilvl for dungeons was one of the single biggest killer of retail wow. You’re insane if you think otherwise.

So what if I do?

There is a massive difference to gate-keeping heroic raids to gate-keeping entry level content.

Why would people be gatekept? I really don’t think you guys understand what it is you are arguing.

Heroics will still be there. Heroic+ is only relevant if you are coming into the game late and want to jump immediately into the current tier. That’s it. It’s no different than before aside from instead of getting 9 more people to help you gear up in an old raid you only need 4 people.

I will make this as simple as I can:

When Uduar came out in Wrath.

New player joins and the guild they are invited to is starting Ulduar. New player is not geared enough for Ulduar. Guild organizes a second raid night to run the new character through Naxx (probably for a few weeks) to get geared for Ulduar.

When Ulduar releases in Classic:
New player joins and the guild they are invited to is starting Ulduar. New player is not geared enough for Ulduar. 4 people from guild chain some H+ dungeons to get the player geared for Ulduar (probably a few days).

How is this bad?

Form your own groups and take new players with you then. That’s what I do. And it’ll be easier than ever in Wrath heroics.

Are you talking about H+? Because that doesn’t seem like it’s meant to be a basic introduction level of content.

That’s literally the only way they can keep dungeon finder functional. If they didn’t mandate item levels, you’d have dead weight players in greens who just need on everything without contributing anything to the run. In which case, geared players would probably stop queueing and just form their own groups, at which point the dead weights wouldn’t be able to complete dungeons, and the whole system just implodes.

If you want a “fair” system to queue into groups with random people, you need item levels.

They’re making a new difficulty, that’s not heroic.

Exactly. The more things change, the more they stay the same. GS is just ilvl with a different name. People want high/higher ilvls to make killing things easy. Not really sure what OP is trying to get at because requiring certain ilvl/gear is the same thing, and has been around for quite some time so it’s not pushing retail’s stuff onto classic.

You clearly don’t understand the issue. Nobody is going to want to take a casual or new player in Heroic + after the first tier. Not without

  1. paying gold for the run
  2. getting carried by a guild or friends

Again, also by that point the pool of players willing to do normal heroics will be a fraction of those doing heroic +

Is it so mind blowing that Blizzard actually focus on keeping Heroic raid content relevant? They’ve already increased the HP pools of Naxx bosses by 30%, why can’t they add the difficulty on the raid side instead of unnecessarily adding difficulty of what is supposed to be casual content?

Money and greed is the answer.
