First night of Warlords doing a dungeon on my Hunter. I forgot that barrage had changed from single target to AoE.
Only a couple deaths.
Back when the game was brand new, I rolled on something without understanding how the roll system worked.
All I can think of is that time I wiped my entire group in vanilla running through Badlands on our way to do an Uldaman run. We all died so I could pluck some firebloom.

One of our guild’s higher ilvl tanks were running some people who hadn’t done 10s yet through a DoS 10. I was nervous, it was my first 10 and I didn’t want to underperform. When we got to the platform with the oil I was thinking “don’t let the oil get you, you don’t let the oil get you…” I was so focused on the timing of the oil that I didn’t aim my toon in the right direction and DIDN"T EVEN HIT THE PLATFORM AND RIGHT OFF THE EDGE. We had prideful buff at the time, too.
But hey, I didn’t get hit by the oil.

nothing worse than when someone SEES you do the dumb, then calls you out on the dumb that you did.

wasn’t sure which way I needed to move on the LK fight. i chose poorly. blamed cat. pretty sure I was the only floor decoration at the time.

my latest one probably wouldn’t consider myself an “idiot” but rather too nice. we did the slime dungeon this was months ago btw and we skipped these tentacles and someone in the back aggroed um so i was healing that guy thinking they would go out of combat but nope those mfers got huge range ended up killing him and myself. he did it again and i healed um again this happened for a good idk 5 times.
i figured the tank would of just pulled them already i mean by then we were just wasting time. i wasn’t even the healer and if i am not mistaken it was the healer that aggroed the tentacles too.
kept running that dungeon healer was pretty bad tbh full mana and we almost kept wiping i literally had to stop dpsing just to heal myself and others. then we get to the last boss and i already forgot the mechanics i knew it was gonna smack the ground but i didn’t know it would smack the entire ground at once so i didn’t bother to get into the safe spot and ended up dead.
damn healer didn’t even bother to res me. at the end of the run i was so pissed. not because i died but the fact that i had to carry that damn healer ontop of my own dps and he couldn’t even bother to res me. what did i do? released, ran back and /spit on him XD
I wouldn’t say you were wrong, necessarily, just not a good fit for that Guild. They wanted something more serious, you wanted something more lighthearted, and apparently neither side made that clear enough to begin with.
Most recently on mythic artificer progression, I was always on seed duty throughout the encounter. On the second overlap with the seeds and suck in, I popped Alter Time since I have travel from one end of the room to the other end and back while picking up a seed along the way and drop it off before it detonated on top of fighting the suck in mechanic. I managed to traverse to the other end seed in my hands and avoided suck in explosion so I altered. When I got back, I had my “oops” moment because I forgot to drop off the seed before I altered and I wasn’t going to make it to the portal in time to remedy the mistake. So much for that pull.

My most recent, I’d been drinking, it was the last day of BC timewalking and I was bored. I should have gone to bed.
Instead I decide, oh I know, I’ll tank my way to 60. First horde side toon but 2nd pally and 3rd overall tank.
Got in, got to 2nd boss when I realized I was dying pretty fast and my rotation is off.
Oh. I’m in ret spec. Oh no. I dont have a shield or 1 hander? Wtf am I even doing??
I offered to drop, said it was fine if they kicked me and I apologized. 2 dps started to go off, but the monk dps said they would take over.
The first thing I did the next time I logged on was get my tanks all ready to go. Still felt horrible for subjecting randoms to that mess

The most recent was when I wanted to get the Warglaives of Azzinoth achievement mog on my demon hunter, so I thought I had to do the timewalking raid with the glaives equipped.
I figured since our level and gear both scale down then having the warglaives of azzinoth equipped would be just fine for the DPS raid. Looked like my DPS was fine, but I didn’t realize I was still gimping myself becaue I didn’t have access to any of the artifact talents seeing as I didn’t have the actual artifacts equipped.
Anyway, we did the whole thing and got up to Illidan, but we wiped about 2 or 3 times and the raid was ready to call it a night. (it was like 2 am). Anyway, I’m there like a big ol idiot thanking everyone for their time and having a jolly good time. Then the raid leader just noticed I was weilding the warglaives of azzinoth instead of the legion artifact. And through the voice comms he slowly started to realize I just did the whole raid with my character gimped and no one else even noticed or realized it at the time.
So I hear the life slowly drain out of his voice, he sounded absolutely done, defeated, and demoralized, and disappointed with the fact we couldn’t complete it that night.
So yeah that’s how I learned not to equip the warglaives of azzinoth for the black temple timewalking event during legion.

I use Keefer’s on my monk and now and then I forget about the teleport. So we’re fighting a prideful in a guild group, I get targeted with the red balls, everything’s good, and then I trigger Keefer’s port into the boss, release the balls, and hit pretty much everyone.
We didn’t wipe or anything but still, it was funny and I was so sorry lol.

I’m a night owl for the most part, and when I was doing Kara way back when (the run was in the early evening), I fell asleep on the stairs to the ballroom while we were clearing trash.
Stimulus helps a lot for getting art!

I’ve had plenty, but my favorite is still from Wrath. Guild run of ToGC on my DK alt. One of the tanks had to afk for a few minutes, so I used that time to rearrange a few skills on my bars. Apparently I activated Path of Frost when I moved it, and nobody noticed. Tank came back, we killed Twin Valks, and fell onto, not into, the water in Anub’s room.
That’s how I wiped a 25 man raid that wasn’t even in combat.

I’m the idiot of the group each time I fail to see something due to my color blindness. But color blind mode exists, you say? What if I told you that it doesn’t really work? Shades are just lightened or darkened, depending on the intensity you apply, so if the mechanic you’re supposed to dodge or soak just so happens to lighten or darken to the same level as the surrounding area, you won’t see it. I have DBM on, and it tells me what to do…but there are times when I literally can’t see the thing I’m supposed to react to.
Most of my “I’m the idiot” moments come due to being the tank and misjudging a pull or distance a mob will aggro. Even if I know the dungeon I can make this error from time to time.
