When I first started playing, was on my mage, got into a M+ group. I hadn’t learned my rotation or all of the buttons…
Got to first boss and when it finally fell, the tank yelled at me for not using time warp. Never used it before, so didn’t know I had such a thing, it was on my action bar and as I moved my mouse over it to see what the name was, I clicked it. Yeah, not good.
We did time it, got to the end with the chest and I had just opened it and got kicked… lol
I run a targeting macro I created on all my characters. Hit the button and the nearest target is selected…most of the time.
I have had situations where my macro targeted the wrong mob and that caused a wipe but mostly it means I get more mobs to kill and sometimes I die because of it.
Oh well death is only temporary…right?
As a brand new Rogue went exploring in Naxx and was oblivious to see invisible mobs at the time and went exploring. Came back with friends and wiped the Raid.
I had leveled a hunter in BC and ran Kara in an alt guild run or maybe it was a pug and ran out of arrows right as we pulled Curator…yes kiddos, once upon a time, Hunters actually used ammunition for their weapon (also had to feed your pets actual food items to keep them happy so they did more DPS and prevent them from literally abandoning you for good).
Was in heroic Sludge last night. Got chained. Ranged was all messed up for some reason (very odd) so did quite well staying chained tbh. Got pulled in… got lost. for some reason I couldn’t work out how to go back (don’t ask). So instead of just… you know, pressing “back”, I decided to blink. Cause… .yeah… that ain’t going to end badly.
Back some years ago playing my mage, I thought I’d be helpful and repeatedly polymorph some of the mobs, not realising that doing that made them stronger when they came out of it. Getting kicked from the group sort of brought this fact to my attention. I was SUCH a noob. (One reason that Wailing Caverns holds no good memories for me…)
In Legion, my guild at the time invited me to Heroic Emerald Nightmare and they were on Il’gynoth, they needed a healer and brought in my Mistweaver. I didn’t have high expectations, I was far undergeared and behind them, and we wiped a few times. The raid leader mentioned we would have to drop a few people who weren’t performing (I think the bosses scaled to the number of people in your group or something? I am not sure/don’t remember) and I assumed I would be one of them so I thanked them for having me, hearthed, and left the group. I just assumed I was the idiot of the group. I immediately got five whispers, from the raid lead and the other healers, and they were like “NOOOO you can stay!” I guess even though I was undergeared I was keeping up with the other healers (as a Mistweaver!) and wasn’t dying to mechanics. We did end up killing the boss.
I have them a lot. Last time was last week’s accidental timewarping on Stitchflesh’s Creation instead of him. Luckily enough timewarp was still going as Stitchflesh came down again and we killed him during that but I felt incredibly dumb.
Blinking out of chains is my most recent idiot moment too, although it was much more of an idiot moment than you describe. My frozen orb and blink buttons are right next to each other on my bars. You can see where this is going…
I move blink for Sludgefist now. My guild is still laughing about it.
In my experience as a raid lead, people I’ve had to bench are almost never situationally aware enough to think they could possibly be the issue.
We all have our shining moments and others we’d just soon forget. hahaha
One time out of thousands I was in Tower Point as Alliance defending a cap (well…) with another player. I noticed the player I was with was sapped about 2 seconds before the rogue pulled off the cap, two seconds to register what was happening and then “Oh no…” CAP. The other few seconds I was in sleep mode I guess. Yes the person I was with was pretty angry, I could tell by the whisper that came in. I deserved it so it’s all good.
I bet that Horde rogue had a good laugh and their team was pretty happy though.
Leveling my nooby Monk in a Maraudon dungeon accidently hit Flying Serpent Kick right off a cliff and into a big pack of mobs. It didn’t end well. I finally just took it off my bars. Things went smoother after that lol.
