2/3rd done with the story. Will finish it tonight.
I can see how this story fits the movie The Thing more than Lovecraft’s At the Mountains of Madness. Mountains gets all far out there, but Who Goes There? is more grounded in the present moment whereas Lovecraft goes into theory and, well, everywhere.
“I wasn’t comparing it with the Lovecraft one. I was comparing the original movie to the remake. The remake follows the original short story better. Which gave me a pleasant surprise.”
I can see that. Reading Who Goes There? is almost exactly like I’m reading the script for The Thing remake.
“Exactly.”
So how you doing this fine evening?
“Doing good. Just worked on a bit of leveling, with the Darkmoon Faire Buff. You?”
I’m awesome!
Did laundry earlier then just goofing off in here and RL. Just now getting ready to re-watch Lord of the Rings: Two Towers. Every now and then I have to do a marathon watching of the whole LotR trilogy.
“I love marathon movie watching. But my tastes in movies is a bit darker.”
Well now I have to ask–who’s your favorite character in the trilogy?
Oh…I can get dark alright…yep…you betcha!
Treebeard top of the list followed by…
Galadriel
Gimli
You can never go wrong with dwarves!
My favorite just about has to be Boromir, I think. I enjoyed his character arc a lot, and liked his design in the movie.
OMG yes! Boromir’s final fight and death in the movie was awe inspiring. What I loved the most was the statue of who might have actually been an ancient relative of his watching him in this moment of regaining his honor.
i wish i could be aragorn…
Most definitely! I may be a bit biased too given Sean Bean’s portayal of him looks similar to my character Mori as well.
*Edit: the similarity was closer before story stuff happened and Mori’s hair got bleached out.
Well you kinda look like him now with that hairstyle and transmog.
He also had a great story arc. Really him and Frodo are the main heroes in the whole story. Gandalf is not really of this world, so I don’t really count him as a “hero”. I mean they ALL are heroes, but some are the main ones and I think Aragorn and Frodo are it.
Dreams do come true!
So a before and after Death Knighthood?
I like.
After dabbling in tabletop RPGs, Gandalf kinda strikes me as the “DM PC”. He’s there to guide the main heroes in the right direction and bail them out of some serious trouble, but doesn’t really take the reins of the story, so to speak.
Not quite. He was dark blonde both as a paladin and a death knight. It was during an altercation with a Blood Knight at the Battle for Lordaeron that he sustained a near-fatal wound. While Mori did survive the battle, the amount of Light involved ended up bleaching out most of his hair except for facial and a small patch on the underside of his mane.
