Master Sergeant
Earned the title, “Master Sergeant” at level 60.
All you have to do is check someone’s Legacy PVP achievements, and you’ll see the PVP titles earned at level 60. If they have one, then they were a Vanilla player. The date next to it is irrelevant. That’s just when they logged onto the character after those achievements were added.
So next time you go to claim superiority through account age… be a dear and check…
Yes I started in patch 1.5 but I was very casual, I didn’t get those pvp achievements…
I remember when the achivement system came out in the wrath patch it only gave me some of the anniversary ones. I don’t think they where all retro active or I just wasn’t logged in those days.
Best I can do is show my Master of Arms achievement that at least shows I was there during the old skill system.
Not everyone’s character data in the Armory is accurate.
When Blizzard moved our data to the new armory (around Cataclysm I think), all of my raid progress was lost from TBC and Vanilla (except for AQ). And most of my PvP battleground history is gone.
Easily proven experience, but not easily disproved. Some people did lose data or may be playing on a different account now. So you can’t really prove someone didn’t play Vanilla, just that they did.
Knight Captain here, and I still have no idea how people managed to grind up higher PvP levels.
I had a pvp break down and went on a DK spree over in Thunder Bluff by murdering that circle of brave cows in the starter village, over and over and over again.
Obviously you played Vanilla no doubt there. But When I look at your history you have multiple legacy pvp achievements for pvp rank. For instance you have private, sergeant, corporal, and master sergeant. Where if i look at mine I just have one for Champion.
Is that because you had multiple chrs back in vanilla that had achieved a pvp rank? Where I only had one chr in vanilla?
I dare you to check mine since this is an alt account. I haven’t logged into my Vanilla toons in years so they don’t show up as a selection since their names are all post-fixed with numbers but both wow accounts are on this BNet account.
Also, your Vanilla WoW account will have a name, not WoW, WoW2, etc
Played since the last open beta. I preferred the earlier version of vanilla, but I’ll take this Classic.
Started on Blackrock, and eventually took the free transfer off to Daggerspine.
I remember there was an undead shadow priest named Sforce that rushed to 60, and yanked everyone. He talked like a crackhead on the forums. It always cracked me up.
I played from 1.2 to mid Wrath, but I left that account lie unused for over a decade. Now I can’t recover it because it’s listed under a friend’s name. Thankfully, it doesn’t matter, since we can’t take anything from our old accounts into Classic.
I’m not sure, but my PVPing was done originally on multiple Horde characters and by the end of Vanilla my main was Alliance (this one), so it’s possible yeah that’s why.
Also, to everyone saying “I was in Vanilla, but it doesn’t show”, this wasn’t aimed at you. Not everyone can prove it.
But if you’re going to accuse someone of not being in Vanilla, at least check first…because many of us can prove it and are sick of having this claim laid at us.
After Recruit-a-Friend came out, definitely. I have 4 named accounts, and 2 WoWx accounts. Gotta get me those $30 2-seater mounts.
Not all of us can prove it. I leveled a human mage to about 20, and then a troll mage to about 44 or 45 or so during Vanilla, but it was on my brother’s account (he’s the one that got me into the game). By the time he moved on to other games and I made my own account, BC had already come out, so if you check the Legacy achievements on this toon (first one on my account), you’d be able to confirm back to BC, but not Vanilla even though I did play back then.
Did my character on Greymane, but the date is wrong because at some point I switched all my characters from Alliance to Horde. I was an Alliance Lieutenant Commander (boo), but now a Horde Champion (yea).
I stopped caring about this. People would tell me all the time that I wasn’t around back then because the account I use today was created in Cata. I know it better and this is everything that counts. Who knows how many of the “Vanilla veterans” just bought some old account on Ebay?
Yes, I was. I have my vanilla account linked and the competitors tabard and such as proof.
Me and my dad shared that account back in the day. I remember I got him in to it by downloading WoW and the 10 day free trial then his dad (my grandfather) bought us the full version of the game for Christmas!
I’m 22 now, I forget what age I was when I started playing. Probably 8 or 9. I remember my first character, Keeferjar, a dwarf Hunter. He’s still on the linked account with ammo in his inventory and such
Still remember going to Blockbuster with my dad to pick up BC, I even remember getting there around 7PM. I remember going with him to Walmart before school to get WOTLK on release
So yes, I’m a vanilla player. While i wasn’t old enough to remember any specifics, I do remember bits and pieces (paying people 25 copper to show me where the weapon vendors were because I could never remember where they were) and people actually did it. I’d type in general offering a couple of copper and someone would show me, or I’d find somebody doing a quest and ask them to show me. I don’t recall ever being turned down, they’d go 5 minutes out of their way to show me
But I have NO recollection of balance, what was OP and what wasn’t because honestly I probably didn’t care, and I won’t care going in to Classic.
Do I believe non vanilla players gripes to be illegitimate? Sometimes. People think of things from a retail perspective (X is balanced, Y isn’t etc). Vanilla isn’t SUPPOSED to be balanced. EVERYONE will have specific strengths and weaknesses. You’re gonna perform piss poor in some situations regardless of your skill, and phenomenally in others even if you’re bad because you will have the toolkit.
I encourage non vanilla players to understand and accept this, don’t try to change it
I have the corporal title on this level 19, but my warrior has Master Sergeant. You only get the title on the character you got that rank on, and I think they only give you the highest rank you achieved on any specific character.
Possibly, I have the Private, Sergeant, and Commander titles. I did do a little bit of PVP on a couple of alts.
Quite a few of my other PVP stats/achievements are all messed up though. For instance, I’m exalted on my reputation tab for Arathi Basin but according to the PVP battlegounds info I’ve never even done an AB Battleground, WSG is similarly messed up. It’s likely because I all but retired from PVP around the middle of TBC except for doing some of the outdoor battle areas in later expansions like Wintergrasp and Tol’Barad.
