CTMod is already being taken care of, but I am only in the stress tests so I can only make sporadic updates.
You just made my day and my entire classic experience. I wish I had beta just so I could let you access my account and build away.
Folks if your installing Addons for the stress test you need to put them inside -
World of Warcraft -> _classic_ -> Interface -> Addons
Quest so weak auras let’s me see enemies buffs like a mages ability?
What about cast timers on enemies?
Stress test day. Updated the peon quests compete code so it should work now.
After the stress test the last couple days, I thought I’d mention a few addons I missed while playing. Would love to see someone try to update them for classic!
-
AdiButtonAuras is the most critical. Forgot how much I loved seeing timers and statuses right on the action bar buttons themselves. I’d probably pay $20-30 for this mod alone to exist for Classic.
-
IceHud is the HUD I’ve used for over a decade. I really like seeing my health and mana right by my character. Having to look in the corner makes it less obvious and a few times almost died just because I didn’t know my health was low. I found an alternative to the mod as a WeakAura script, but it tells much less info than IceHud and WeakAuras for me seem to be a pain to config and adjust.

Decursive - Not the old crazy one, just the new one with one square per player, right/left click for cleanse or decurse. I know most healers think it is unnecessary, just click-bind those spells to use on your raid frames. But due to physical limitations, I use a regular mouse, not a naga style. Basically I live with left/center/right click + shift/ctrl/alt. So I have 9 spots for clickbinds and don’t like to waste them on cleansing/decursing which doesn’t happen on all fights.

Auto Combat Logger. It auto turns on combat logging when you enter instances and raids. Turns it off when you leave. Or it can prompt you to turn it on when you enter an instance or raid. I assume in the end it mostly just runs the single start/stop combat logging command. That way your logs stay smaller and don’t clutter up non-raid stuff with leveling/farming log items.
Thank you WoW mod devs! So many good mods already have been ported, keep going
I hadn’t noticed that, I hope it can be fixed. I planned to use Clique and will need to be able to bind at least 2 ranks of some spells.
Also Interesting, I tried to download a new version of Clique for the stress test that just happened and it didn’t work. The UI wouldn’t load. I had to revert to the version I downloaded for the previous stress test. I’m not sure if there are multiple people working on separate versions of the mod or what, but I really hope things can get straightened out.
How about a better version of healbot. I know vanilla has a healbot addon but it has never worked as well as the current version.
On the topic of porting addons…
I was trying to figure out a way to re-create an addon that existed back during OG vanilla called Soul Stamp.
Sadly, I am a complete novice at programming myself, and was unable to get it working during the beta process (and I’m rather disappointed in the addon development resources available)
I would like to see if I can recruit someone who knows what they are doing in this field to completely take over the project for themselves in the hope that it actually does get done somehow. All credit is yours save the acknowledgement that the concept for the addon came from the vanilla addon “Soul Stamp” (unfortunately I do not have a copy of that addon nor have I been able to find a copy of the OG addon to learn who that original author was for their proper credit)
All working code for it (and thus all credit for everything but the concept) is yours if you can get it done.
Now to explain the addon functionality…
-The addon would recognize when a soul shard was created, and then modify the tooltip of that specific soul shard with the name of the target.
-Names would stay with the soul shard item/tooltip until logging out, after which they would default back to generic “Soul Shard” (So it wasn’t saving data between sessions in any way)
-It would take names from NPCs and players equally well
-I cannot recall for sure either way, if the addon could be “tricked” (For example I shadowburn “Bob” but am targetting “Frank” while Bob dies. If the addon is “tricked” it’s taking the name “Frank” for the shard and not “Bob”, even though the shard was taken from “Bob”… A “trickable” addon would likely be easier to code, I’d imagine, though obviously there would be a preference for an addon that could differentiate if possible, and properly create a shard with the correct name… )
I didn’t get very far at all into getting any of it to work… as I had trouble even learning how to modify the tooltips themselves with the anemic available resources, let alone figure out how to generate the names for the shards or get an addon to recognize an event occurring, or target that specific soul shard being created and only edit its specific tooltip (rather than changing the name of every shard in your bag)
I had two theories on where to go to get the names, but was well out of my coding depth by this point and am unsure which of these (if either) is even possible.
Theory 1 is getting the game to recognize the shard creation event (create soul shard spell ID for vanilla-wrath is Spell ID: 24827) and then having the game snapshot your target at that time.
Theory 2 is that the addon could somehow have been watching for specific lines of text in the combat log “you create Soul Shard” and then taking data from the preceding lines of the combat log to get target information
At any rate, this addon during vanilla brought a ton to the table for locks, giving a hefty dose of flavor to the soul shard system, and provided a fun little warped pokemon esque side game when in a BG (gotta catch em all)…
I’m hoping to get to play that mini game again in my bgs, and was hoping to find a dev who can help make that possible =)
Can I make a request or two? Fizzwidget Feed-O-Matic, I really enjoyed getting those little pet emotes when I fed them and TrinketMenu. Thanks for your time.
Is there anything similar to Ackis recipe list? Addon author says they haven’t started it yet but plan to have a classic version but i’d like 1 going into wow if it’s not updated in time.
For those that don’t know, it’s an addon that scans your profession menu for all the recipes you know/don’t know and shows you which ones you don’t have and where they can be purchased/dropped.
So if everyone is #nochanges, why does everyone want to use the same addons that pushed Blizzard into baking them into retail where people complained the game was too dumbed down?
Thanks for organizing this, Durrus. I’d definitely like to see the following added:

Addons are a part of wow. Have been since vanilla and still are to this day. If you don’t like them, don’t use them.
I get that people modified the game from go, I was there. It just makes me laugh when people talk about classic being hard and not dumbed down, then modify the game to make it easy and dumb it down.
I used a few mods, silencer and the raid boss one quest helper etc…if you don’t think that’s retailing up the game we just see it differently.
I think people like having unfair advantage (mods, Twinking low level BG’s, healing mods) I only laugh when the same people go on about how Vanilla was better because it didn’t baby you.
You can use mods but your just playing retail beta not classic. If your not one of the #nochanges classic is for people willing to work for it types you’re not the group I’m chuckling at.
The title is “retail” add-ons. Meaning addons and functionnalities that weren’t here during Vanilla.
Some retail addons bring bad behavior and could start to be so essential that players who aren’t gonna use them will have their experience affected.
The “if you don’t like them, don’t use them” sentence is stupid. And could be use with “put LFG/transmog/achievement into Classic, if you don’t like them don’t use them”.
Haven’t seen you in a while Andy.
Can you give me some examples of these “retail” addons that have different functionalities than Vanilla?
Don’t worry about LFG, that was sort of in vanilla too . . Just curious as to what you think is so much different than what was around in Vanilla and early TBC?
I think it a little funny how so many addons are trying to get ported over to Classic when we still to this day do not know what the final API limitations will be
It did, quite effectively, since each spell rank has a different spell ID.
Hero.
Vanilla Healbot will not work, however the modern Healbot Continued should have already been ported.
Most of the requests here are for updated versions of addons that existed in Vanilla. Since no Vanilla mods will work.
We have a 99% confidence based on beta and stress test.
Plenty more new addons will be developed during Classic’s active period and maybe even ported to retail if relevant. But we know pretty much all the functionality and API calls for Classic already.
Requesting XLoot port.
