Were are the strong, male leads in Warcraft?

I don’t think so. What we’d call a world-ending event, Azerothians would call a Tuesday.

Playing one note for a decade gets boring. It’s ok to change things up sometimes.

He is the Merlin to king Arthur. But a lot stronger lol. Probbably would have been a better comparison.

I’m curious.

What are your thoughts on Sabellian?

He’s a strong male lead in a very traditional way. He’s physically strong (he’s literally a dragon), his visage is a human male (and every human male in the game is a buffed up bodybuilder), he has the mind of a military leader, action oriented, getting things done, not bull kind of man.

I’m pretty sure he’s the one Ebyssian refers to as “general”.

Do you think he fits the type of character you’re talking about?

Posting this on an Evoker is a nice touch.

So you’re the only type of person allowed to relate to and be inspired by fictional game leaders? What about the rest of the playerbase? You’ve had plenty, they got a few, let them have it and play or not play the game.

Kalecgos, Wrathion, Sabellion, Ebyssian, and Nozdormu are major DF characters. That’s not even counting all of the other male characters that play smaller but significant roles in the story, including racial leaders, quest givers, and more.

Sabellion is in that category. His only issue is that he is kinda forced into wrathion’s story shadow. My bid was 100% with him at the expansion start but the writing on the wall was saying wrathion or a more established character would lead. He essentially was demoted to general from his potential in my opinion.

Well, there you have at least one character.

Regardless of the other characters that are around him, he’s a strong male. He’s also a very prominent character in the current patch.

And, now that we’re talking about it, I think the current patch main’s storyline is actually quite focused on masculine development (each of the 3 male characters in the story are facing one of their flaws and growing out of them). It’s a pretty male centered patch this one.

Surprised OP completely left out Ebyssian.

He seems like he fits the father figure material you’re looking for.

The Wrathion/Sabellion rivalry arc had a lot of development happen very quickly and a lot of it until you step foot into the raid makes them both seem rather petty and childish. Ebyssian isn’t necessarily a “strong” leader in the traditional sense, more of a soft and compassionate one, more of a dad than a general. Kalecgos slurps his soup like a baby though. Even in the blue dragonflight questline he doesn’t really ‘feel’ like he’s doing much leadering and instead falls in a similar pool as Ebyssian.

Both Baine and Ebyssian are showing a non-toxic masculinity.

Showing that you can be a man and defend your people but still be compassionate.

It’s the Uncle Iroh approach.

While Sabellian is the typical “manly men do manly men things. Don’t show emotions. Go cut down a tree!” type of masculin, Ebyssian is the “it’s ok to be vulnerable and accept help” side.

I’m not surprised. I’d even go so far to say it was intentional.

And yet, Sabellian shows growth in this arc while still being a man of action.

I think most of his “childish and petty” impression happens because he’s next to Wrathion, rather than him being childish himself.

OP isn’t looking for a father, he’s looking for a daddy.

Hard to not see this as very good bait when half the people you listed were villians/psychopaths.

Problem is, when you make a roid rage ultra-violence macho character they tend to be a problem that has to be solved eventually. That’s not the kind of leader that just sticks around to kiss babies and fill out paperwork.

Only weak willed men are afraid of paperwork and kissing babies.
