A package of updates suggest a lot of updates packaged together. A lot of updates probably means a lot of different kinds of updates, such as talent changes, moving their positions, and maybe some numbers. Thats major to me. If I had to guess, we will probably see a few two point talents made into one point talents and maybe some things made baseline. The tree it’s self probably wont be dramatically changed but if they freed up some talents points that would be pretty major for our talent strangled trees.
blizzard in blue post : Hello wielders of the elements!
then proceds to make elemental shaman a low-effort fire mage by spamming lava burst for almost a decade by now
truly a wielder of the elements and not fire, indeed
It doesn’t need a rework.
But if i can think of a few improvements:
As a general rule, hero talents are somewhat interesting, but not that well implemented, tempest works weirdly for ele, make it insta, generate 30 maelstrom, actually make it interact with everything that bolt does etc etc…
Totemic has some decent ideas, but the core concept of totems is not great at the moment due to it’s inherent restrictions, and it pushes us to take talents that feel awful.
For enhance:
1: remove windfury totem from the tree and make it a normal raid buff
2: add back the season 3 tier set in place of primal maelstrom, primal maelstrom becomes a baseline interaction for pwave, but instead of getting cdr from wolves, the cdr comes from maelstrom weapon generated, for storm, static accumulation baseline for ascendance, and replace it with something else. Also, make primal maelstrom generate 1 or 2 msw for 10, or 5 seconds respectively to cut down on waste, still very bursty in resource generated, but you won’t waste as much.
3: chain to 6 targets, crash buff applies for the whole duration not just the first hit for some needed high target aoe, and completely remove the soft cap on crash.
4: less 2 talent points
5: wolves off gcd
6: molten assault spreads to 5 targets directly
7: Ashen cata would be cooler if it increased the tick rate instead of the damage
For ele:
1: less 2 talent points to make space for new talents, and even decouple certain choice nodes
2: flame shock less of a bother to use/spread
3: Eq shorter in duration, bigger radius
4: consider making elementals an actual cd, with stronger/cooler interactions, i don’t personally have issues with a flat profile, but hey, i’m not gonna turn down a little bit of burst damage.
I haven’t really played ele as much so these are just off the top of my head ideas.
But please don’t actually do a full rework, and ruin what you built up for ele/enhance.
The core rotation of both specs is actually really good, just need a few improvements here and there. I swear to god…
Rework has become a buzzword, and like every other buzzword the inconsistent use has rendered it meaningless.
I think most people just want a few logical changes, some polish, and for the class to be brought up to the standard that other classes are living. I don’t think the majority of shaman players want the class rebuilt from the ground up, even if they do use the word rework.
Spirit Wolf talent…
If it is going to take a full 4 seconds to kick in, then it needs to take a full 4 seconds to wear off.
Lava is fire and earth so technically you are both a pyromancer and a geomancer.
I kinda agree to be honest, people throw around the word “rework” too much these days.
I forgot to add something, dre should work based on msw spent. For BOTH specs.
