The changes will either be met with applause or send us into a frothing rage.
I’m happy to hear this, but also a little nervous. There has been so much build up that it will be nearly impossible to make everyone happy.
I can see it now…
“Keeping in line with reducing range for melee specs, all shock spells for enhancement have been moved to melee, including wind sheer. We have also lowered the distance hex works to -5, you now have to be inside the target to hex them”
I kid of course. Looking forward to see what they been cookin. Hopefully its a 3 course meal and not just hamburger helper.
Wowhead says, “Major Shaman changes”
Blizzard says, “A package of updates for Shaman”
I’m not familiar with how Blizzard has communicated class changes in the past; is this the kind of language they use when they’re making “major changes”?
I’ll be optimistic until I see the changes.
One thing I know for certain is that shaman will not get the same number of iterations that mage and warlock have received throughout alpha and beta. Not to mention ret paladins. But those are just the golden children so I’ll settle for one month of builds I guess.
They said they listened to our feedback.
We will see.
No, this is Archim causing confusion with a poorly titled wowhead article
I said it in the feedback thread and I’ll say it again here. There’s not much time for anything left. I’m more concerned about the “tuning hotfixes” that are expected in the next few days, coming before this “update package.”
To me, that reads as if not much is changing in whatever the update is, else they’d save tuning to deploy with it or after it. But we shall see I guess.
We just want to be talked to, man =(
It’s all about open and honest communication. If they have been diligently working on something, but it’s last in line for implementation, just say that. Some people will get angry and it won’t matter because the playerbase will just know.
Totally up front tho, I sure hope they knocked it out of the park on the rough draft, because other than some number changes, what they reveal next week is what we are getting at launch.
Glhf everybody!
They better fix totem cause with this week change they ruined Totemic.
They just made a longer cooldown healing rain with a 10sec move … like it already is
I’m just glad they finally at least SAID something. I’m not expecting a complete overhaul, there’s not enough time before pre-patch for that, but they could at least clean up the trees to reduce the amount of 2-pt nodes and shuffle things around a bit to make it flow better.
At the very least remove Icefury > Flux Melting / Electrified Shocks path from Elemental and move Flurry from the Class tree into the Enhancement tree.
It’s probably not anything major, but it’ll hopefully address the most pressing issues with defensives and utility. Maybe something to address the AoE target cap issues.
And hopefully something to address the degenerate gameplay that Primordial Wave causes for Elemental and Deeply Rooted Elements causes for Enhancement.
From what I’ve seen of other classes they’ve been pretty positive/successful on the changes. Even if they don’t hit it out of the park week one they’ve putting in effort to get it right, so even if it is getting close to prepatch im optimistic they will keep the same energy with shaman make the needed changes/adjustments over the next few weeks. Overall a lot of good changes and info this week.
The saying from burning crusade till cata was “if they forget they exist, they can’t nerf us anymore.” lol. I haven’t played shaman in over a decade.
Why would they post something on WoWhead before posting anything on the forums? Is WoWhead an official Blizzard site?
They didn’t. The blue post came first.
No
They didnt day rework or major changes so its safe to asume the class is going to play the same. Its not going to get the hunter treat. Prob some point changes on the nodes at most but most likely just number changes.
Copium is hoping for the best. But i know better. It aint going to be much. Wont be enough to sway people who plan on rerolling but itll make those who want to stay a little more happy.
I love how they casually drop this message without even acknowledging our frustrations…
“Sorry it’s been a while….” Something to that effect.
Unless I missed a post they only said updates for hunters as well.
“I would like to rage.”
Yeah, when they released info on hunters, they only said they were doing updates as well and it turned out to be a solid rework.
I’m not saying Shamans will be as lucky as hunters and some other classes in terms of getting a full rework, I’m already jaded, but they don’t always advertise a big rework before it happens. Sometimes blizz just keeps it intentionally vague and says “There will be some changes/updates” or “We’ll be considering certain things about how the spec/class performs”, etc.
