This is how I feel and see things. I am thankful I have yet to pre order DF. Honest I been playing MM since vanilla and currently I am not seeing anything that getting me excited to pre order DF. I want to play MM hunter blizz and I pay you guys so that I can do that. I feel like all you did was to gut the spec and throw 80% of what made MM and moved it to the talent tree. Nothing exciting. Nothing new. I wouldn’t mind having something old from previous MM hunter specs to make a comeback. Lets start seeing something good instead of just moving talents around on the tree each week and call it a good thing. Honestly i’d rather go free to play. level up a twink hunter and just do bgs once in a while till we get Mist classic so I can play that all day back when MM was fun to play.
It’s frustrating that I couldn’t even make the MM hunter I can run today. Just not enough spec points, and some borrowed power is just gone.
Every spec just feels like a fraction, a reflection of what is now, or once was. Needs more available in the spec tree for fewer points cost and more things worth spening points on in the class tree, as MM.
Oh and lone wolf needs to be baseline, or it needs a better dmg mod if it’s going to cost a spec point.
Literally your current build, plus some stuff, minus Wild Spirits and Vigil (because they don’t exist) but picks up Death Chakrams and Flayed Shot Deathblow so you still get plenty of borrowed power in the talent tree.
But this isn’t accurate either - name one option available to you on live that isn’t available to you in DF, not including A Murder of Crows (which has been never pick for MM for like 3 expansions in a row).
This I agree with. I have zero desire to spend more than 8 points in the bottom of the class tree. I refuse to run Nesingwary’s or Steel Trap because rotational trap play sucks, and I want to run Lone Wolf, so none of the pet talents are relevant. I wind up spending 3 points in nonessential utility and movement in the top portions of the tree just to hit my 31 points. With the recently announced changes this may be different.
This I agree with as well. Assuming we aren’t in end of expansion gear with set bonuses, maxed out soulbinds, and double legendaries, 10% is roughly the damage that the pet does, so you are effectively spending a talent point for the privilege of not having pet utility available. It should be buffed to be competitive with other talents if it remains a talent. It should also be moved to right below Aimed Shot, in place of Improved Steady Focus, which should be baseline.
Respectfully, though the talent tree has updated between my last build and your post (happy to see that happening so frequently), I disagree with your assertion.
It’s not the same because it wouldn’t play the same:
Legendaries, artifacts, azurite, soulbinds, covenants, ect ect ect. For a long time now, borrowed power has been as core as talents. Most especially since it’s had designed synergy with talents.
I’m happy to see the borrowed power sources go, but the MM talents are lacking without it.
That build has me waiting a long time for Aimed Shot recharge and casting a lot of steady shots. Today my MM spec nearly chain fires Aimed Shots, autos trick shots, and hardly has to bother with resource generation. It’s not the same thing at all.
A prior version could near fill a focus bar off a rapid fire that just trucked my target. So on and so forth with different builds, different synergies, going back years and years.
Filling in talents without the borrowed power synergies they were designed around leaves MM feeling like a shadow of it’s former self.

And you’ll still have that when 10.0 drops. You aren’t going to lose the legendary effects or set bonuses the second you enter Dragonflight, you’ll replace the pieces gradually as you level. Then you’ll get new set bonuses, trinkets, etc as you raid or whatever in Dragonflight.
So basically a warrior or DK can stun and two hits later you dead. how about stuff in the talents that help out MM with that sort of crap. how about faster aim shot casts talent? Its lets gut and throw it all into talent spells and call it a day
No offense intended here as I’m just an 1800 player but, it doesn’t seem like you do pvp outside of standard bgs. I’m not sure your complaint here holds up when you get into competitive pvp. Which is what pvp is balanced around. There are plenty of hunters doing very well in all three specs when you look at the ladder.
the only number that allows me to “hold up” is the one i pay for my sub!
So you don’t need to improve at all? Blizzard should be balancing the game around each individuals ability level? You can’t really think that.
I don’t want to be a jerk and argue with another player. Other players are not who I have a problem with. My problem is what I have stated above in my post. So, this is how I am seeing your arguments. First you tried the elitest shut up rout which you failed at. Now you are trying the well what you can’t improve so it’s all about you rout. No. We are in beta. Me saying “hey Blizz I’ve not pre-ordered yet so how about you all put some talents that I would like to see and maybe I will want to continue with playing WoW.” There is nothing wrong with me nor you going into these forums asking for things we want to see. By all means ask for something you want to see and hit me up and I will support it. Now I do NOT want to disrespect anyone’s time and effort that he or she puts into the game, BUT! At the of the day whatever ranks you or I have or not have is meaningless compared to the money that comes out of our bank accounts to pay for this game.
Half of the Hunter talents need the boring plus thoughput talents replaced with new & past interesting abilities, like every other class has.
Considering your original whine was factually wrong and full of nothing but hyperbole and conjecture.
So please tell me why currently in the MM spell book we have: tar trap, aimed shot, tranquilizing shot. rapid fire, lone wolf, binding shot concussive shot, bursting shot, kill shot, Misdirection, scared beast, trick shots, counter shot, multi-shot, trueshot all baseline spells that are now found on the talent trees for DF? And thus far as I been doing my very best to keep track of improvements ALL thats been done is to move the spells around the MM section of the tree and only just recently have they “created” a new spell called sentinel owl as a new talent.
Since you seem to be one of the few people who don’t get it… the talent trees are replacing spells earned while leveling. Instead of getting a spell for dinging level X, you now get a talent point to place into the tree. So of course spells you currently have are now in the talent trees… This isn’t something hard to grasp.
So what you are saying is that if wrath, moonfire, starfire all become talents. you are good with that? I mean wouldnt it be better if we have talents to choose from that would oh be something new or fun… maybe exciting?
Try reading it again slower until you get the point…
My question is not hard. its either yes or no. which do you choose?
I mean, Nariko does kind of have a point. If you look at the current Druid trees, Balance Druids get Starfire, Starsurge, Moonfire, and Wrath without spending a single point. Yet MM has to talent in Aimed Shot, our most core and iconic ability since Vanilla.
If we’re going to go with fair being fair, every spec getting their most iconic abilities baseline would be the way to go imo. There is also the no one gets them baseline option, but I don’t think that works because you’re need more talent points.
Thank you. And to my fellow hunters. Having to spend a point in aimed shot, one of MM’s most core abilities means the talent tree is trash! The devs working on it are lazy. Both of our strongest damage dealing spells are on the talent tree and no one is saying anything! Aimed shot and rapid fire! On the talent tree??? Aimed shot, rapid fire, and trick shots should be baseline. We should have let’s say black arrow make a comeback. How about that one shot that would put the target to sleep? Heres and idea. Since MM does most of our damage from a weapon let’s have a talent that changes intimidation to maybe a stun arrow? Instead of ideas like i just said the devs gut MM and moved those spells onto the talent tree.
I don’t mind aimed starting it off really. It’s hunter consistent with barbed, aimed, and raptor strike leading off their respective trees.
I do like the current mm tree better then the last one. Still needs work and reduced point cost.
-
Multi-shot should be baseline.
-
Arcane shot should just cost 20 focus without spending 2 points to bring it down.
-
Should remove the 2 point buff Aimed/RF talents. PVP will just get Aimed nerfed again when combined with double_tap. PVE will just get tuned around having them, making them mandatory talent point sinks.
