They are Not. Calia is. And i reject her and everything she stands for.
And I remember very well that I and my first Forsaken were once loyal Alliance citizens. We died for that banner, and our reward was to be hunted as vermin.-Sylvanas
Which technically is a lie considering she died after she left the Alliance but that is Sylvanas for you.

I’m not saying you have to like or accept her, it’s totally fine to hate a character.
I was just trying to explain the difference between Calia and the Alliance. They are separate. I feel like people just see a “human” and blindly auto-attack her as if it clashes with their image of the Horde. You can dislike her all you want, but her story and lore is undeniable.

Calia FEELS Alliance though. Even if she isn’t she feels like a plant. She even gets a wholly different model- and not a Nathanos type still looks undead model but a “Undead via Light” model. While I understand lore wise it is the Forsaken who are “unnatural” outside of lore she is the one who feels unnatural. And she truly does feel like an Alliance plant, even if she isn’t. I remember sympathizing with her so much in the Arthas novel but now I just want her gone.

Calia sucks, even Derek Proudmoore is better than her, and his entire characterization is “I was just dead and boy it kinda sucks being undead”
Valeera is an alliance character that the devs are using because they don’t want to bother to develop horde ones, and should either go back to her master full time or just disappear forever.
Officially she was a neutral one, since joining the alliance during the events preceding BfA would close the door for her search of the family members. Although that is stated as a “true” reason for her Gathering initiative, the theme is largely not mentioned since.
I can only speculate that since she was alone in Orgrimmar during the pre-patch despite a largely warm reception, they are not anywhere on the horde territories, (un)dead or alive.

So it happened, that he brought back her body after she was kind of killed. So, yeah. Given Anduin’s age, I think it is largely overlooked how impactful for him was the Gathering.
I don’t know to be honest. On one hand, yes, I would not mind more alliance vs. horde, faction pride, all that stuff. On paper it could be interesting. And then we have the execution of that theme by blizz.
I personally hate their approach to continuity. Passionately. And even I, as one of those who is super strict on the topic, would not really mind if Shadowlands would become a reset point and everything that happened before would become more of an outline rather than a strict canon. The way BfA handled it’s story for me was just that bad, irrational, incosistent, and at the same time shallow.
But I think that the horde need horde characters. Forsaken need “from the forsaken” lead. And Calia is the most alliance character I could imagine (daughter of the founder of the alliance raised by the light?) So, I would be happier to see her there.
Nope, mon. She can bring in some really interesting stories. Like that one. About nobility, inception of the alliance, whatever happened in early days after vrykul decendants arrived in these places, Mereldar and why the light chose them specifically, and so on. Those could be cool. But the thing is, the stories are… aliance ones.
Well, depends. She always was friendly to the alliance. Lived in the alliace. Married a soldier of the alliance. Following rituals of the alliace. With a goal of making her husband one of nobles… of the alliance. She is a daughter of pretty much the founder of the alliance. Raised by the light, worshipped in the alliance.
I mean in the game she is friendly to both factions. But I do not think it’s that hard to see why a character with a heritage that tightly connected to the alliance is viewed as a more fitting figure among the alliance.
She is considered to be a forsaken. By Voss. And we have enough of examples of forsaken in Argent Dawn and it’s derivatives, and, say, Faol recently, who are forsaken, but not horde. Also, this.
She wants to bridge the living and the undead. Since her people are both living and undead. And she is undead. While her family might not be.
Depends on how you measure. Which side of Sylvanas you take. Which side of the forsaken you value more, etc.

No, it was confirmed by the devs that as of Shadowlands Calia has no intention to be the leader for the forsaken. Although there is a remark in Before the Storm iiirc, that she would lead those who would want to follow her.

This I can agree with. I think it would be better if the horde would be leaded by the characters from the horde (when possible, that obviously can’t include allied races or new additions).
She did it again during the pre-patch.

Lady Menethil is fine. Calia is even better. I gave up my claim to the throne long ago.
