HotS was fun until they introduced so many weird overwatch chars… I just don’t understand the overwatch appeal.
I think it would be a lot more interesting if they had some class balance and viewers could witness a wide variety of specs being used out of the 36 specs, if not all of them used and see all the different groups and see all the action play out with different class/spec combos…
BUT NO…you will get mage/druid/rogue…and if not maybe a monk or dk here and there.
GG Blizz.
Pardon if reading is hard for me today, but are people in here saying that MDI is popular?
do realize your game is rather… dead and dull
fix that? maybe?
are you talking about back when heroic was the highest difficulty – the equivalent of what’s now called mythic?
A more-exciting format than timing runs. M+ could do without the timer entirely for my money.
But M+ still needs its own balance team, its own gear/set bonuses and specialized talents at least as much as PvP does.
BC, to an extent, when it comes to PvP, but even Rob Pardo considered that a failure, and they were pulled out of MLG because it wasn’t actually a viable esport.
In Mists of Pandaria, Blizzard introduced Challenge Modes - something I participated heavily in. The end game dungeons had a difficulty spike, and if you could complete them all within 3 time brackets, you’d get either a title, mount, or entire set of class gear.
They then added titles for having the best time on your server, which wound up with a lot of gold in some people - including myself’s - pockets.
They continued the system going into Warlords, then turned it into what we now have as Mythic+ in Legion, and began to push it as an esport with the MDI.
Stuff like the World First Race has always been a thing, but MMORPG “competitive” aspects have always shined when it was the community itself doing it and organizing it. It truly didn’t effect anybody either. It was just a bunch of nerds doing nerdy stuff, and it made the other nerds not interested usually watch because they wanted to see how things worked. Now, the actual game is tuned around these “esports” and super high levels of play, and in some cases - especially arenas - you don’t actually get anything out of your time investment unless you’re extremely good. It’s exhausting.
It’s always so funny how absurdly low the prize pools are, they get so much money from advertisers and signed a huge contract with youtube for exclusive streaming, but they provide literally nothing to the players lol.
Your content was stale on delivery, you are bleeding subs in the most favourable market conditions imageable (people literally forced to stay in their homes) and this is what you have been focusing on…
Its no wonder classic is outshining the live game.
Edit: is this idea the wow equivalent of “don’t you guys have phones”?
Oh look, more trash that the vast majority of your playerbase doesn’t want. How about you take a really hard long look at successful past expansions and try to emulate those time, you know when the game actually had a soul and was fun.
this is a huge slap on the face…it’s like having your boyfriend dump you out of no where and the next day you see him with a really hot girl
i feel physically ill by this like i got punched in the stomach
People would likely be a lot less annoyed if you guys weren’t “balancing” the game and basing it’s rewards structure off these esports mentalities.
But na.
FOMO and Metas are running rampant.
People aren’t going to be happy to see this when they’re frustrated with the game itself.
I don’t take any issues with this event and if nothing else I’m actually glad to see that you’re taking a lot of the criticisms about the MDI and actually creating an event that is a LOT closer to what we see on live servers from these sorts of players.
That said, $20,000 is insultingly bad although I should be used to Blizzard barely paying its competitors for anything.
Nobody cares about stupid trivia or 1v1 duel lol.
No, it’s the wow equivalent of “Is this an out of season April Fool’s joke?”
Oh please stop with the Esports stuff!! WoW is not or should not be an esports game!!!
Will get to see all the very similar comps yet it won’t clue in at all for the devs as to why.
