“competitive World of Warcraft”
This is why my account is out in 3 weeks and im giving away my stuff and deleting my toons. This game isnt even close to an RPG anymore and Im sick of hoping it will become one again due to sunk cost fallacy.

There is the “Great Push” that makes us have to run Torghast (like it or not).
Be careful what you say about blizz’s pets… one time I caught a forum vacation for saying “Yay we can ignore [REDACTED TEXT COLOR] posters now!”
I actually got a week away from the forums for that, ridiculous.
The problem is that most people have very little to do that they find interesting or rewarding. Even raiders and those who are normally into mythic+ are getting bored.
The company has a reputation of being incredibly slow to respond to needed changes.
But the real issue is that they should have known this was what was going to happen during the planning stage. There are only a few major demographics, and only elites are being catered to.
What we have is what devs chose to give us. There hasn’t been a change in the playerbase. Your “immediate solution” will provide content for essentially no one.
Do you hear that Blizz? It is a unique sound.
It is the entire community coming together to tell you what a trash idea this is and how stupid and destructive MDI is to what was once a very rewarding play experience.
Oh, I thought this was the company’s announcement that pushing players to play other MMOs was their intention. The great push to play ESO or FFXIV.
I’d love to know the percentage of the player base that actually cares about MDI events? Quit wasting time, money, and resources on this stuff.
Spend the money that you would on the multiple MDI tournaments you do on hiring more developers since pace of development seems to be a huge issue for your company.
So basically this event caters to the top teams mainly in the current MDI or current dungeon season, as unless your going to gate keep the top players. It literally is going to boil down to essentially elsmere and so forth pushing in the tournament in the end. Over random groups that aren’t streamers that actually would be entertaining to watch push keys and develop strats.
Just another rather uninspired event that is going to be a snore fest given its going to be the same teams and comps in the end pushing keys.
The playerbase isn’t interested. I think you already knew that, though.
They’re not even applicable to the goals you as a player have. Nobody cares whether they can 3-chest an 18 in ilvl 229 gear. MDIs rules are incredibly artificial, it’s basically a fake game sponsored by Blizzard.
Players across the spectrum are “climbing the mountain”. That’s the goal of M+. And that’s also kind of why it has infinite scaling in the first place - you will never reach the top, so the point is to climb as high as you can. It’s absolutely nonsense how the competitive element of MDI is about some isolated arbitrarily picked keystone speed-running competition.
While I heartily agree with your sentiment. Why you gotta insult Wildstar like that?
That’s not the prize for 1st place. That’s the entire pool. Even if it were the 1st place prize, it’s still split between 5 people. That is insulting.
“Hey, it’s been 14 years, and Silvermoon still has no flying / incomplete buildings”
Blizzard: “Look! a contest based on the dungeons you’ve been running for almost 6 months now!”
I kid, I kid… well, not really.
They are spending money on marketing and creating new affixes for MDI.
Sounds fun! Except I don’t play Booking, Fire, or Marksman, nor does anyone on my team, so we won’t join in.
This post adds an entirely new perspective. Why even have this tournament? It’s not even financially viable for players to waste a lot of days or weeks.
It is a shame they are not streaming everything. I would love to see what it would be like if there were bunches of groups of five friends/guildies that wanted to go sightseeing in the dungeons.
Agreed! They ruined an entire expansion over a $20K one time event! They ruined the gear drop rates in every aspect of the game, destroyed solo play(their biggest base btw IE Casuals), and are doing NOTHING to keep their game ALIVE! This is the worst state of the game i have EVER seen in 16+ years, and it is really sad to see.
AOE cap stinks also!!
Translation: I realized that I was wrong, but rather than admit it, to save face I’m going to pivot to a completely different argument.
The “why” remains the same - Blizzard is in a bad place and they have some money they can spend to try to stem the bleeding.
You can stop arguing, really. It’s not a big deal.
Not to mention the taxes that will be taken from each person.
