Funny story, I took my mythic raid geared guild leader into arenas. He told me he knew absolutely nothing about pvp and we were gonna get dumpstered yada yada. I was about 1750cr atm havent played much arena this season because I can’t stand it. Anywho i have 2.3xp and am a healer so we started queing Hpal / UHDK. We pushed from 1750 to almost 1900 without a single loss and were playing 2k mmr games. He was asking me non stop who to go on, what to kick, who to slow etc etc, his xp was legit 0 and he was winning 2k mmr arenas. Welcome to BFA where PvP is trash and anyone can do it because they PvE.

I mean… The PvP has always been a bit trash in this game. That’s why I play other games for PvP and play WoW for PvE.
It is significantly worse than usual at the moment though, that much is certain.

why is this a problem? pvp has always been a sort of mini game, its like a side game. so it should be accessible for people, especially people that pve, which is considered by and large the main game.

I read this 1 minute ago when you posted this same thing in another thread and I went “meh, so apparently gear is your skill now as a player” and you created a whole thread for it now, which is bit too much.
Yeah there always is overpowered classes/gear etc, but with that being said the game was always still very enjoyable even with its issues. Now a days tho since like legion the game just keeps getting more far away and has less passion put into it. PvP is totally neglected and will never get back to it’s semi decent core imo.
No matter how many times GD world questers post this it will never be true. PvP has only been treated as a sidegame in BFA by the current dev team. Previously it was given just as much attention as PvE and had similar participation numbers.

The problem is you have battlegrounds, arena skirmishes, low rated arena, duels, wpvp etc for casual side fun pvp. People who actually take pvp seriously like a mythic raid team does but doesn’t want to raid, gets to not have that experience because all the trash tier broken non sense from pve and also the ability to not properly gear etc.

I dunno I just can’t get back into PVP. Every time I even think about it, the absolute silliness of it keeps me from even trying. Gear is a part of that for sure and the last thing I want to do is gear up a character for raids and in raids just to PVP on it. Just thinking of that is enough to make me not want to bother.

Pvp servers were a thing since vanilla with pvp being a pretty big deal. Everyone wanted to be rank 14.
When classic came out I heard a lot more people talk about reaching rank 14 compared to anything raid related.
And pvp has had a pretty large community all these years.

Emm, not really this is just a thing people in GD with 0 pvp experience like to tell others to probably justify the fact that they were never able to be decent at it. No offense.
Wow pvp before our friend Ion and his D3 crew changed everything was by far one of the best pvp experiences in the industry, that’s why there are people just not willing to give up on it.

Opinions and all of that.
I used to PvP fairly often back in MoP and WoD but I just prefer other games for PvP and have for awhile. I’m not really a fan of the style of PvP that WoW has (most other MMOs share a similar style for the record.) It just isn’t particularly enjoyable or exciting imo.
As always, I hope it gets better for those that do enjoy it though.
I think you may be selling your contribution short. I imagine if he didn’t have your guidance shot-calling and leadership, matches probably wouldn’t have ended as well.
Gear helps, but having someone walk you through it can make all the difference in the world, I think.
(Not denying pvp state, just giving a hot take)

Players who have never stepped foot into an arena shouldn’t be beating 2k rated players regardless of gear.
I know 2k isn’t what it used to be, but the line has to be drawn somewhere.
