Been playing TBC classic and some of the flowers and bushes I walk by light up very bright and it’s rather annoying. Is this a bug or something wrong on my end?
I have been posting about it for a bit but the shading for TBC is completely broken.
Here is some screen shots showing it:

Really sucks because this was mentioned in Beta as well as mentioned in Shadowlands (because it has issues there as well). It has to do with their ray tracing implementation and non RTX gpu’s.
bumping for more info
Also experiencing this. Looks like the light of a lantern moving with my character about 40 yds in front and to the right of me in Un’goro.
I want to say it is following me around, but the flicking light is always in front of me on either the left or right… like maybe I am following it. =)
not even a lantern, because at least that would cast a shadow properly. it would be bright but it would cast a shadow in some way. this is no shading. this is like having an infinite amount of lanterns all over the place and not allowing shading. its what make it stand out so much and makes your character not feel like it is in the world. Shadowlands really ruined the game and TBC is using the newer shadowlands engine where Classic was using an older but working model. Wish they would have just used the classic engine
Fixed mine I think. Try going to your graphics settings and dropping the ground clutter slider all the way down and apply. Then put it back and apply.
I did this while it was happening and it disappeared immediately.
Haven’t seen it in about 20 min. Fingers crossed.
EDIT: also this has persisted through log out and full client restart
ground clutter has no changes to the character model shading nor trees or terrain. i posted some picture links up above where you can see the issues for it.
did you try it?
multiple times. that slider has no effect on character model shading nor world shading.
Check these pictures out to see the issue:

i will say that it removes some of the ground clutter that would have shading so you dont see the mess it would cause when its there lol. but the shading issue is still present on character models and the terrain and trees. also once you bring the slider back up the rocks still dont have proper shading nor the grass
Neither of those images represent the lighting problem in question. Perhaps a re-read of the original post?
did you not look at the shading on the rocks on the ground in the pictures?
OP care to chime in?
are you thinking you are responding to something else? because those pictures show exactly the issue of the extremely bright objects and textures
the issue was with bright lighting on the 3d ground clutter above the terrain texture similar to a player carrying a lantern or wand…seemingly coming from nowhere
This… it’s like a lantern is running ahead of you about 10 yards to the left or right.
I’m seeing the issue that Johndeere mentions on my 5700 XT, but I’m not seeing the “moving lantern” issue mentioned. Flowers/bushes look normal to me.
I also see the grass and flowers light up randomly. Thought it was something wrong on my end. I have a 2070 super.
This fixed it for me for a few minutes, but then it came back.
I’m running a GeForce RTX 2070 Super.
