Re-bringing this up. It’s concerning there’s been zero communication regarding the state of the catalyst in TWW S1.
Is it going to remain a bi-weekly charge for the rest of the season, in stark contrast to how it functioned in the past? This change should have been communicated much earlier if so. Or, if the intention is to change to a weekly cycle as prior seasons worked, why is there no mention of it in 11.0.7?
Agreed, this late in the season there’s absolutely no reason to gatekeep catalyst charges.
Without a weekly catalyst charge, it’s looking more and more likely that many players won’t be able to complete their transmog goals for the season. And it needlessly prevents/delays players from using charges on new upgrades they obtain from their vaults.
In prior seasons this was changed halfway through. So why hasn’t this happened in 11.0?
Kind of a moot point if in fact it becomes a weekly charge next week in 11.0.7, but I can’t find a single thing about next week’s patch to suggest this is going to happen.
Kinda surprised more players aren’t bringing this up more tbh.
I also hope it becomes weekly on next patch.
Really at this point why not make it unlimited? I mean everyone should have their tier and I even have charges saved for replacements.
I guess technically people can use it to make some pieces better secondary but at the late point now does that hurt anyone?

With the drip feed of catalyst charges there won’t be enough to fully collect all of the LFR->Mythic variants, even if you’ve collected all the Veteran and Heroic pieces and crests to do so.
Let alone using catalyst charges on an actual vault upgrade. Or using them to min/max secondaries on non-tier items.

I felt like tier drops were lower with the expansion as well compared to previous seasons. It’s like they lowered tier drop rate in df s4 and never restored it to its default state. Obtaining tww s1 tier in the first month seemed disproportionately difficult

If they did not intend to revert to a weekly catalyst charge it should have been communicated long before the season is halfway over. I know at least for myself, I would have utilized the catalyst VERY differently if this were the case.
it’s been available since the season started on biweekly charges. This is the trade off for having it start X weeks into the season but have weekly charges.
what is difficult to understand? This was communicated.
well upgrade to the point it unlocks the transmog you want cause you will be able to still use those season1 pieces and itll be free with no charges required infinitely. in season 2
upgrade now though cause you wont be able to come season 2
In DF it was bi-weekly and then reverted to a weekly charge in every season at the midway point.
They set a precedent in DF. If they were going to drastically change direction in TWW, they should have communicated it.
This is fine and all (assuming you have spare charges to spend on S1 items in S2) but since S1 items are locked from being upgraded you no longer can get 2 recolors from one item. Hence why it needs to occur during the actual season.
Or they can make it so items from prior seasons can continue to be upgraded, but that’s something they haven’t ever allowed. Weekly catalyst is.
there will be no charges required for season 1 items in season 2. thats how its worked since season 4 SL
like now im able to take all 20 pieces of my ilvl 490 event gear and catalyst them all now for season 4 appearances. it will be infinite usage for old season gear to be catalyst.
Ah, I see. Still doesn’t address the issue of no longer being able to upgrade said items, defeating the purpose of being able to unlock a second recolor.
well you have like 8 charges right now for alts so just go to collecting the items and the crests now

We would need 18 to fully unlock LFR->Mythic recolors. This cadence doesn’t provide enough to even complete this, let alone utilizing the catalyst for actual ilvl upgrades.

well collect LFR from the weekly boxes and save those for season 2
collect champion 4/8 and upgrade to 5/8 to unlock normal and heroic
also you can wait until 3 years from now to solo the content easily
