We want WOW classic xpacs to be permanent!

So it is safe to say that you don’t like anything beyond the original WoW. I can understand that. What I don’t understand is why you would begrudge others what they prefer?

  1. The original two continents are awesome, which is a big reason for me to loath Cata and everything after it. So I kind of agree with you. Since I spend most of my time leveling, and then creating alts, I still get to enjoy the vast majority of what Vanilla had to offer. Although I do like Outland too and have fond memories of it.

  2. This doesn’t bother me. I didn’t even notice, to be honest.

  3. For many of us (most of us?), we don’t even know what the lore is outside of the game.

  4. Yes, but again, this didn’t bother me too much. It is one city. Also, I like being able to roll a Pali on the Horde side.

  5. You can only fly in Outland, so most of the leveling process is still on the ground.

I understand your disdain. I’m just not there and many others aren’t either. We would like to play on a TBC server. You have a home on Classic Era. We’d like a home too.

They’re playing SoD. Ironforge only shows a little over 15k raiding in Classic Era. There’s over 200,000 characters raiding in WOTLK still. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves vanillabros.

  • Burning Steppes
  • Stranglethorn Vale
  • Felwood
  • Eastern Plaguelands
  • Silithus

Not sure how max level raid geared vanilla toons even notice the difference. They generally go no where else. Beauty if definitely in the eye of the beholder, there’s plenty of ugly Vanilla zones and some would argue I named them above.

If the Draenei Alliance story was handled better you wouldn’t even be able to tell the difference. It was just Gnomer tech with purple crystals.

Again only Draenei, and Blood Elves in the Horde is just a copy pasted version of Forsaken joining the Horde. It’s also a decision made by Blood Elf leadership and not necessarily every Blood Elf. You can see a rabble rouser in Silvermoon get mind controlled when he tries to convince people to shun the Horde and rejoin the Alliance. People just see the pretty elves and ignore all the texts and how craven the Blood Elves can be. Even Blizzard does this. The lore is fine in regards to that.

In fact, the lore only starts clashing (outside of Draenei) if you’re talking about stuff pre-WC3, such as the Thunderlords aligning with Thralls Horde or the Shattered Hand Clan being enemies alongside the Bonechewers. The various Vikings of Northrend is far more alien to the lore than anything that happens in TBC.

Yeah this one is a good point. Though I did think handled the Blood Elf Paladin story well.

It added:

  • Arenas
  • Resilience
  • Better raids
  • PVE tabards (outside of Scarlet Crusade)
  • Dungeon rep grinds
  • More companion pets
  • More mounts
  • More accessible levelling (and removed begging in chat for 4 people for an elite quest, making those quests worth your time).
  • Fixed a number of class issues such as Hunters being able to set up a trap in combat.

I get why people like Vanilla, but to say TBC “isn’t an expansion and in fact killed WOW” is ridiculous. It even plays like Vanilla.

No one parses any more on Era its super chill. Era is packed tho, just no one gives a rip about parses at all. IMO the only thing people do care about is Leveling, Loot and PvP.

As such IF cannot be used to accurately compare Era to SoD where in SoD everyone is hell bent to parse or not get a spot for EZ content; the two experiences could not be more different. I would even say Retail is more chill to play than SoD is now; that’s sorta wack too me but eh whatever.

I just popped on to a Classic Era Medium server (There was no high ones when I logged), and while there were a good amount of people in Ogrimmar at the time (probably 30-40 where I was standing) most of them were level 60.

Even if doubled or tripled the Ironforge logs to account for pvp and low level players, it still doesn’t come close to the raiding population in WOTLK. If I saw a bunch of lowbies I’d consider your argument further but I think my overall point still stands if not the exact number that CE isn’t as popular as WOTLKC strictly on its own.

Whatever server you want to choose to play on is right so long as it is a choice one makes. Sod does seem like in the spirit of tbc though.

I dont, i absolutely despise Era. And i did clone my character so im not biased.

Era features…

…the open world killing chronoboon, essentially turning Classic into a TBC city simulator.
…layers
…an economy plagued by years of GDKP (RMT)
…being forever stuck in phase 6, the worst phase (TBC level gear)
…free rank 14 handouts (every second player on era is now rank 14)

I logged into Era to record some clips a few months ago. Every second or third player i encountered was Rank 14. And these false High Warlords or Sand Marshals dont even fight back.

Era is an abomination and not Classic.

Alright, so why aren’t you advocating for a true Classic server that handles most of the items on your list? Why are you begrudging others what they would prefer? Get a thread going that explores the best options that can be realistically implemented onto a single Classic Era server.

I still think a great idea would be for Blizzard to make three servers, one each for Era, TBC, and WotLK and then have players be able to transfer around on them (a player name on one would take it for all three). It would allow players like you and me to have a permanent home, while allowing others to progress through the entire experience. No need for HC servers and players could just use the mod for that.

Consolidate the servers and allow us to do our own thing.

Erm … not one, but two realms each for Era, BC and Wrath, one PvE one PvP and preferably a RP as well.

No we already have too many Classic variants, if anything they need to shut some down.

I’d start with one, either PVP or PVE. Probably PVE and people can flag themselves as PVP if that is their thing. But I would take either. It would be better to concentrate the population, especially at first. And I generally “RP Light” no matter what server I am on.

We can push for everything that we WANT, and probably get nothing, or we can push for something realistic and have a thread of a chance.

My hunch is that people will leave shortly after Cata launch, and then we may get a TBC server, and maybe WotLK. Slim chance, but that is my hope.

I actually think you’re correct, probably over half-way into Cataclysm it will be announced. They may be hoping that Firelands and SoD will do well enough to maintain the numbers after the WOTLK fall off. I actually wonder if SoD will be able to maintain its momentum. I logged on the other day to WOTLKC, saw no one on my guild was on, so I checked on SoD assuming they’d all be there and it was just as dead. I could have just got on at a bad time at 9 on a Sunday night three days after phase 2 launched.

Regardless though, they probably will at least give TBC and WOTLK some air given how CE servers looked throughout TBC and early Wrath and let Nostalgia kick in hoping to attract enough players to make it worthwhile.

Dismantling this because you’re incorrect.

We have plenty of world PVP, honestly its very good you’re just not playing so you don’t know.

Has not been a thing in 9 months, well before SoD came out actually.

This is a problem but not as big as you make it out too be.

I agree with this sentiment, tho the best part of WoW is honestly the leveling and the PVP not the raids, raids while I personally enjoy them are kinda the worst content in the game period. I get it if someone loves raids like me but if you’re honest with yourself raids are kinda trash. I also love PVP, and that is something that ERA does better than most versions of wow to this day, just not in a way you may agree with, that being world PVP and Battlegrounds… The only time when BG’s were as good as Vanilla was Late Cata and most of MoP, other than that PVP has never been so good as Era.

Really is not so, I would actually say its harder now to get Rank 14 than it was pre the patch… But you would not know this because you don’t play Era.

Yes there are lots of R14’s and who cares, those people got the rank because it was their goal to do so… at least they did not buy it like all the clowns in Naxx loot in gold DKP that they purchased the gold for.

As for the issues surrounding Era, LOL bud that’s every version of wow now days.

Heck I can break your argument further because its flatly in bad faith… I could say “I logged onto Modern WoW today and saw some stuff I don’t like so Modern wow is totally trash”… Regardless if that is true or false it does not matter because a brief experience is not enough to honestly take measure of a situation.

A single server of each type in TBC and Wrath should be done.
It’d like Blizz allow us to take our Classic Era charactesr through to Cata if we wanted to even though I personally hate Cata and won’t even play TBC or Wrath.

Perhaps to the individual but there are people in Wrath Reforged as well as HC.
One may not care for their style of game play but they aren’t dead.

Absolutely.

Personally I’m not a fan of this. Cloning became a nightmare that they shouldn’t repeat imo. I’d be fine with creating characters in each version and playing them as the mood strikes - or playing with a group/guild that has designated game nights in each.

If people want to progress, I have confidence that Blizz will reboot once the class of 2019 progression is done.

ymmv
But overall I do support the idea of Era servers for both TBC and Wrath.

IF you want people to stay, the separation of PvP and PvE players is of high importance.

  • PvE players do not like the thougth of endless corpesruns, and even the risk of getting tricked into PvP would deter them
  • PvP players think PvP is the game, and don’t want to play with carebears.

Asking for one of each for each expansion is the utmost in realism.

One more note re cloning.

If we do not get to keep our old character in Wrath Era, I for one do not want anything to do with Wrath ever again. I - and i suspect many more - have achievements and things collected from day one of Era, and do not want to lose this - be it to Cata or to “just make a new Wrath Era and let the now-servers progress to Cata”.

There is literally 0 point, in playing any of the expansions at all, when they will roll over into something else, this is why i quit in TBCOG.

Less now, but the best PVP i seen in OG Vannila, was on PVE realms where groups grew and formed as the PVP happened around them for whatever reasons, (never around the mini games blizz attempted to establish) and you know what?
0 people who just happened to be using their play time in what ever zone it was the PVE care bears happened to decide to PVP in that days time was wasted.

I agree that consensual WPvP could be fun. I am also a veteran of some glorious, spontaneous free for alls in Vanilla  (RP server even).
What I - and “carebears” like me - do not like, is having our Questing ruined and the way to the dungeon taking longer time than the Dungeon itself due to people who think PvP consists in corpse camping and killing off of NPC’s

Agreed! 1 of each!

I started as a kid playing at the end of wrath & really started raiding in cata, so I am looking fwd to reliving that though :stuck_out_tongue:

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE official permanent TBC servers ON THE CONDITION that the WoW token NEVER gets implemented and GDKP’s are made against the ToS.
