We want Emerald Dream back!

Emerald Dream will never be the same sorry to say it.

Emerald Dream was a RPpvp server that thrived on and around wpvp in some form or another which in turn turned into more RP and more pvp and more RP. Yes some really large Rpers left but that’s cool they went to where they wanted to just “RP”
Guilds had bases and the World Defense was ED biggest tool to sound the alarm of an attack or to stay away from the area. The community was lost. :sob: :face_holding_back_tears:

I’m reading some of these responses and the Vets of ED are right on this one. I had the pleasure of experiencing it  We all had our own persona it was just wild and so much fun!

This doesn’t mean you can’t have events just remember ED will never be the same.

Hooch kinda like it dead. Too many stinky elfs, and Hooch not like elfs.

Careful or I’ll stick these pointy ears of mine into you Hooch.

Actions and Consiquences should be the key drive for getting rid warmode and encouraging consiquences for mindless violence as well as consiquences for being out right virtuous all the time. you would have to create a new pvp honor and dishonor system and have it character bound.

Hooch could use ears for toothpick. Hooch eat gnome yams and something weirdy stuck in Hooch teeth.

its definitely warmode, sharding and phasing. Prior to these changes, both factions were forced to interact.

people left because players (mostly alliance) turned off warmode, and never turned it back on. there was no fight. big guilds left or disbanded. RP’ers blamed wpvp bros, and wpvp bros blamed RP’ers.

like holly said, there is no way to get back to where we were unfortunately.

I agree. No doubt.

That’s the thing though. Not having a choice is not what killed WPvP. HAVING a choice is what killed WPvP. Having the option and 90% of the player base on ED using the option to avoid conflict is what killed ED. People can point their fingers at blizzard and say they killed it with WM and Sharding. But at the end of the day it wasn’t. It was the players.

The players are CHOOSING to play and remain in WM off at all times. Blizzard and warmode hurt the server by allowing players to have the ability to choose. But at the end of the day, the players are to blame for making the choice.

People point fingers and blame the WPvP’rs for RP griefing. But if you look at the bigger picture, WPvP’rs and even if their was some intentional griefing created rivalries and more RP through those rivalries to the point that intentionally griefers where at the end of the day RP’ing themselves.

This is FAR from accurate. HORDE are the majority of players playing with WM off on this server. Literally every single horde RP event is hosted in WM OFF to avoid any open world conflict from the alliance.

I came to ED at the end of Legion. The RP exodus was fresh.

You can say that didn’t affect anything all you want, but it took most of the Alliance Leadership with it. And most if not all of the people that actually put on events and ran things for the server as a whole.
Alliance was left with, mostly, just a few WPVP guild leads who, if I recall, all went Horde not long after…

Remember that really stupid period of time before Classic when the larger ED guilds all banded together and thought they were doing something taunting RUIN. Then they “fought” a few times, kept crashing the server, cried, said this sucks, and ran off to Classic or just stopped doing anything.
RUIN quit coming, and now the Alliance is outnumbered, and with no leadership. GG.

And that’s the key thing here, Leadership. There’s not many left, and even fewer that want to mess with or do anything with the community as a whole. and you know why?
This place is not welcoming. Its mostly very outspoken, negative “vets” who do nothing and just want things to automatically be like it was. That belittle and berate every new idea or attempt to do something that comes their way.
Nobody wants to mess with that, so they leave.

ED causes 80% of ED’s own problems.

  • Nobody made you turn off Warmode.
  • Nobody made you stop going out in to the world and just hanging out.
  • Phasing sucks in the new zones very true, but anything outside current content you still see each other at max level.
  • But but there’s random Off-Realmers, I DoNt WaNt To KiLl NoBoDiES. So what? You still see the same people from those if you’re out enough too. You can make rivals there too… And until our server fills up, get used to seeing them.
  • Nobody told you to stay one faction.

Its amazing reading these replies and how majority of them just give themselves away knowing exactly how things went awry, but at the same time not wanting to own up to it or do anything about it.

Let’s just, everyone here, take a moment to do some self reflection.
Think, what am I doing to make this situation better? Anything? How do you answer that question? Are you honestly contributing in a positive way, or are you just very outspoken with your thumb up your…

not sure which emerald dream you play on. . . but my comment was regarding what led to where we are now. not the current state. . .

but even if i WAS talking about the current state, id still be accurate. i ACTIVELY play both factions here. i absolutely have more fights when im on the alliance characters.

CBH is probably the most active alliance side right now. some VN players occasionally. D7 is out in ZM once a week, but thats about it horde side. both sides are dead af.

The Watch was specifically created because of the lack of alliance response.

You might want to re-read that hoss.

You’re right. I misread his response.

This is still far from accurate.

You know what. Going to turn this a different direction. It doesn’t matter who is right and who is wrong. It doesn’t matter what entity blizzard or players actions brought ED to its current state.

What we need is change. So how do we go about seeking change?

What we need is as a whole community, we need to put together a big in depth proposal for change to blizzard. It needs to identify and address the current issues with our suggestions on how to correct the problem.

People say that blizzard doesn’t listen, blizzard will not respond. This is far from the truth. I have seen it and been a part of a community that actually got change from blizzard through said proposal. Look into the barbarian diablo-3 community. They grouped up and put together a very very well thought and in depth proposal and submitted it to blizzard. Which in-turn brought MAJOR changes to their community.

We just need to get Blizzards attention.

If any of you guys truly want change or some version of the old ED back. What suggestions do you have to fix the issue?

Server merger with other RP realms?
WM disabled for ED and other RPPvP realms?
More strict and enforced server moderation?
What do you suggest?

stop reading there lol

Yeah, why listen to someone that has actually been actively playing and doing things on the Realm for the past 4-5 years.

You have been a shining example of players who are wholly dedicated to making the game fun for yourself and others. Thank you for your service. You and the rest of the rp community are willing to put events out there. it’s not easy. especially when people either have defeatest attitudes or refuse to want to adapt and change to make things fun for others.

I still believe alot of good can come out of the community and it will have its chance to shine again. but it has to show that Emerald Dream has something to offer over others. Respect first and foremost for the Rp and PvP genre is paramount.

I see alot of people blaming warmode and sharding, but WRA and MG do not have this problem. Zerg guilds who came and went with SGI, rp police and everyone calling anything that wasnt scripted or favorable to them “griefing” is what killed it.

Alot of people in this thread contributed to that.

People want to rp as pvpers instead of pvping on an rp server. That is what ED became.

Our communities inability to adapt to these implemented features is the biggest issue.
We can say this and that killed ED. But when it comes down to it. We can still have WPvP events with those that want to participate. There are multiple guilds with hundreds of members on both sides that advertise WPvP activities. Yet, I’ve joined a mass majority of them and they don’t do it.

We really gotta stop playing the blame game and start talking about how we can do what we wanna do with what we got. We absolutely can have a thriving and active WPvP/RP community. It’s just a matter of actually doing it.
