Cause why not?
Thats your mentality with arena apparently

Pvpers can run heroics for free badge gear.
Lol Kara is basically afk and loot pls just stop
You’re being dumb. The PVP gear isn’t even good for pve. two or three specs want the weapons. But they aren’t BIS for nearly everyone else.
GOOD players don’t care what other gear other people have.
Bad players do, because it’s the only way they have an advantage.
Why did I see almost zero retail chars all of yesterday and now today I see a gigantic amount of them talking down to the playerbase and indirectly/directly defending blizz?
so long as you have to raid wipe 10 times a week for 3 months straight. im fine with you getting 1 weapon from it. Forgot to add that you need to pay 40g per person in raid every week also
Its really fool proof logic that can’t be argued and not only that but there was plenty of talk about making the PVE harder and zero talk about making PVP harder.
Switch it around actiblizz. Keep PVP the same and put in your wow token boost gimmicks into PVE by making the raiding content 3x harder.
You can’t really just play games and lose your way to gear all season. You might get enough points for one piece in an entire season doing that. Stop being ridiculous
Pretty much this but there is other niche pieces like ret pally gloves. Any ret worth their salt will farm them first every season.
Be better than this Thelsyran. Understand that there is a large player base who really enjoy pvp / arena who won’t make it to the top brackets required for this gear in S1 / S2.
So these players either quit tbc or quit arena, both incredibly bad outcomes for the community.
sure no one wants afk teams to get gear, but killing off casual arena isn’t the solution is it?
And no one jump in with the be better arguments. Why do you need to be in the top % of players to get gear when it takes months to get anyway.
Casual arena participating in games isn’t a free ride, its an enjoyable aspect of the game that has some of my best memories.
There are so many other things that could be done to limit the amount of people willing to afk arena gear. Off the top of my head without any thought
1 - up the amount of games required each week to 50. Still not a big number for anyone activity playing arena.
2 - If you leave a team you must wait 1 week before getting points in the new team. (although this does have issues for legitimate players).
anyway no point suggesting anything regarding this game, activation done care, the community is so split / unreasonable to the way others approach wow.
its quickly becoming another trash version of what could be a masterpiece mostly ruined by us the players.
Actually its not.
The only problem the TBC Season 1 arena system has is awarding points for not winning.
All they gotta do to fix the system is remove that
So, I’m an enthusiastic PvPer. I will also never break out of the bottom 25th percentile of players, that’s just the way things are, and no amount of practice will change that.
I guess I’ll just go eff myself then.
Most people play retail and classic, but they just post on one character. Stop pretending that if someone isn’t on the right avatar they can’t have a say
Can’t lose 10 games each week from the get go and get points…
No let’s compare the difficulty of each type of content.
Arena is zero sum. Less then 1% of the entire PVP player base will ever get the shoulders no matter what.
Will less then 1% of the entire PVE player base get their T4 shoulders? If the answer to this is anything other than “no” you’re lying.
The high rated requirements of this system were specifically set up when Sunwell came out because it matched the difficulty at the time. Same with Black temple when they put weapons at 1850 and shoulders at 2000. It matched the difficulty of the content.
Maybe they should tie PVE parses to gear acquisition. Sorry Thelysran but you didn’t 99% parse compared to the entirety of NA including tanks/healers/dps so you don’t get your shoulders again, better luck next time.
I want everyone to have the possibility to gear gear, not for it to be gated.
The only thing I don’t think its healthy is awarding conquest points for literally AFKn in Arena, thats every bit as toxic as boosting. IMO.
Even if someone is the worst PVP’r in the world they should still be able to farm up the Arena gear. Thats my stance on it.
The only difference is that the top players will get the full set and weapons a little faster than the bottom of the bracket, that gives them incentive to play better and gear faster. Outside of that, gearing should not be gated behind any BS rating.
Agreed.
That already is bannable. AFKing for gear is just a meme that people supporting the arena changes are using to support their gatekeeping.
The only way I can think to have the best of both worlds is only award points for wins, if you don’t win just play more games till you win and cap points.
Its basically the same system just without the option to literally AFK.
The most interesting part of this post is that you think people haven’t afked in raids before and received gear. Yeah so umm there’s this thing called GDKP and I hate to break it to you but people pay for gear while being mostly afk if they are being carried and not carries.
I have a better plan, just ban afkers.
