Auto-Sac is a casual group friendly design, not a casual learner friendly design imo. If anything it inhibits learning how to use sac. At most its contribution is to get out of your way while you’re learning the basics of how to play the game entirely.
Because they want to tunnel vision dps and pay no attention to anything else except for their own hp bar, hence the ludicrously broken defensives.
Getting a ret to press rebuke is like pulling teeth for some of those cretins
Rebuke lets you pimpslap an enemy. If a paladin refuses to do that, I will break into their house at night and steal their stuff.
I don’t know what I’m stealing, but whatever it is, they no longer deserve it.

Plate wearing mages, is all they are. What is melee range to a Ret? 30 yards, that what it is.

Nothing has to be done about Ret specifically.
What has to be done is burying the corpses of the DH and Rogue class devs and kicking every other incompetent buffoon class dev out on the curb.
Then you get actually competent people who fix other specs so they’re as smooth and fun as Ret.
Nerfing or breaking the spec that works fine is an inane crab bucket approach.

Fr it’s like people don’t remember Affliction Locks during TBC. Ret is playing the way all classes should play. Instead of asking for nerfs, all other classes should get the same love and attention pallies do. Hell, just rework Enhance so it’s like Ret, they already turned Ret into Light themed Enhance.
EDIT: Or omg does anyone remember DKs throughout ALL of WOTLK? Ret wasn’t even that good until the last patch essentially removed all their cool downs, DKs were OP for 2 years.

This sounds like a you problem, I really don’t see anything wrong here.
I feel like Paladin and Hunter popularity is always tough to gauge because both are always high popularity archetypes.
They also have Arcane/Fire mages, Frost DKs, and Resto Shammys. In past expacs, NONE of these specs were particularly sought after. Nice to see those players finally getting to do the content they love.

Paladins are the main character man. Xelnath talked about this in his comments years ago.
I think you’re a little blind to the way this reads. “Sac is situational, so we just use our full heal utility or our near-full heal utility for holy power.”
Hella options in that regard.
