Trying to use the least amount of hyperbole possible but it seems like a good 80% of M+ key groups have a Ret Paladin in them. And why wouldn’t they? They are sturdy, deal insane damage and have some of the best utility in the game. It’s a pity that most of them are terrible but that could be attributed to the laughably low skill floor to play the spec.
- Blizzard really really REALLY want rets to use sacrifice they put it in such spot that you have to go out of your way to not pick it
- rets still not using it
- they even add damage bonus for using it

- blizzard goes out of their way and adds automatic sacrifice
Name a spec in the game right now that has more or equal hand holding. They even have automatic freedom now, automatic self heal, automatic wings, near 100% uptime damage windows where they are just in “go” mode, most of their abilities being ranged so they can straight up ignore punishing melee mechanics… where does it end?
Wouldn’t be so bad if other classes/specs in the game had this kind of favoritism but someone at Blizzard clearly likes the spec. So what gives?

Yeah I was telling myself yesterday when I was on the toilet that Ret is gonna be S tier in keys if people haven’t already figured it out.
Ret is superior to Sin Rogue in every way. I think people might be using Shroud on some of the trash though, that’s the only reason you would even care about a Rogue.

Haven’t played in a bit, how are the numbers for paladins in mythic+? Is there a drastic disparity between other classes vs retribution paladins, who are severely over performing compared to these other classes?

That’s a fair question! Popularity wise they are the most popular DPS for every metric. All difficulty of raids and M+ keys. I can’t post or link stats here but those are readily available on the wowlogs Archon feature
Well, I’ve seen the most recent data listed, and I didn’t really see Retribution as this monstrous force blasting through content. Their placement in the DPS list would indicate that being near the top but not the top isn’t a bad spot to be in.
Also, popularity definitely shouldn’t be a defining reason to call for any changes in a class, especially when “The grass is greener” syndrome is being used because of a player’s choice in which class they chose to play that isn’t performing that well.
