We need separate subscription for wow classic!

No thanks. Move on.

That defeats the purpose of funding the more likable game, as you have to fund one to have the other.
Everyone having a hard time with money then won’t get to play the game that is in fact older and less content filled. Which makes no sense.
Bad idea.

Nah, business-wise this is smart for Blizzard. If people get sick of Classic or Retail, they can freely switch between them. Blizzard continues to line its coffers, instead of watching their former customers get settled into another MMORPG and pay a different dev team.

What would be more interesting is if WoW Classic had went free to play.

Imagine the amount of people who would have cancelled their Subscription and stuck to Classic WoW. Be it, because it was simply cheaper, or to try to make a point to Blizzard.

Blizzard could have lost millions!

no because then i can’t pay for classic with gold

A lot of people miss this point. I’m currently on break from retail until 8.2.5(if that party sync actually gets released), or 9.0. Classic is a nice alternative for whenever I get burnt out, or just want to play a different version of WoW(and vice versa for people that main Classic)

I haven’t read the whole thread yet because it’s pretty much saying the same thing. But I’m guessing OP wasn’t saying there should be two $15 a month subs. I’m guessing OP wants a reduced subscription close to $7.99 for Classic only.

This seriously flawed logic you are trying to use here. Doesn’t matter if you choose to play one version or both. Collectively, they both come to you for the $15 price of a subscription. If Blizzard split both games from one another, then people would be paying $30, not $15 to play both games. The surest way to cut the legs from underneath you and the rest of the player base is forcing people to pay more, not the same, hence why you got Classic without actually having to pay for it. Retail got Classic without having to pay for both versions of WoW separately, which is something Blizzard could have surely done. As well, Blizzard is not charging an additional subscription play both version of WoW, which Blizzard would well with in their right to do so.

You are also assuming that Classic has a massive shelf life when Blizzard themselves have already stated that there will be a massive drop off of people playing Classic. Maybe if this community does not tank after Naxx that might be the time where Blizzard would entertain making Classic a separate game altogether, not now. You are not special and you should not be made special. Many like yourself have been peddling this idea that Classic is propping up retail. Well, without retail you and every like-mind person would not current have Classic.

Your logic is flawed because you are conveying that Blizzard should punish people that like to play both WoW’s by making them pay more, not the same to play both WoW’s. This post and your OP post scream entitlement all over them. You need to take an ECON 101 class to understand the flawed economics that you are asking for here. Again, no one is forcing you to download retail, much less play it. If you have a drop menu on your launcher then you chose to download and install the retail game. If this the case you can remove retail by clicking Options on the launcher, select Game Setting, then select Game Install/Update to remove any Blizzard game you choose not to play. Have a Nice Day!

If thats the case for him…

Vanilla was $15/month.

Blizzard would be stupid to do this.

By requiring a sub to the retail game, it means that you normally will buy the expansions as they come out. To offer you to pay X dollars for a 15 year old game with no real updates is a foolish way to do this.

Now…what Blizzard could do, and I could see them doing is saying if you want a classic only sub, it will be $10 per month. If you pay $15 you get them both.

Then you no longer have access to the retail game which has 10 times more content than classic, but is only $5$ more.

WTF did I just read? you want all of us to pay MORE with separate subscriptions? Do you enjoy throwing away money? I mean wtf… I feel like I get dumber every time I read these forums.

No, she just doesn’t want to play with retail players and wants them punished with a double sub. Read the initial post again. That is ALL it’s about. It’s about petty, childish, and bitter resentment of people she doesn’t even know…for liking a game she doesn’t like. She doesn’t want my sort of player on her server, and if I am on her server, she wants me to be financially punished for it.

That is ALL her post is about.

Wow, that is an unusual level of narcissism. It’s not always about you. It’s significantly more likely she’s selfish.

No. LOL. It’s not narcissism. I read her post. That’s what it says. I personalized it to summarize and make a point.

And there are so many posts just like hers–same attitude. I’m getting really worn out with it. It’s been weeks, and it’s still the go-to obsession with some of these players. Everything is because retail players are crying/griefing/stupid/bad/quitting/trolling/ruining the game…etc. And now, we’ve got this very special OP about how the game would be “safer” if retail people had to pay twice to access Classic.

There’s nothing narcissistic in my response to that. OP does not want players like me on her server, and if we are on her server, she wants us to be financially penalized for that access.

Where is that analysis not fully supported by her post?

Her post IS about me…and every other person who plays and maintained a retail sub prior to Classic.

I agree that Blizzard would be stupid to do this. I’m not agreeing with OP, I’m just saying that’s what I think OP was saying.

Sounds like you are trying to funnel retailers away from classic. Not a bad idea profit wise. But in terms of ecosystem wise, it is a bad idea. Blizzard can offer more options with one subscription.

Yes she mentioned you a lot. If I say drunk drivers should have their licenses revoked, am I punishing the drunk drivers? Or protecting the victims of them?

I’ll probably have to concede that she’s drawing a little more schadenfreude from them than she should, but her overall goal seems focused on the Improvement of classic.
