We Need More Time Sensitive Challenging Content

In light of the interview with Preach and the obvious importance placed upon reading these forums, I think presenting this take is a good idea.

I know people will scream FOMO and we’ve had a lot of threads on the topic, but none of those threads actually talk about incentivizing this type of content, and only talk about undermining previous challenges by bringing them back.

This is not a debate about the aforementioned take, for the record. That is not the point of this thread. It is merely to provide context as to why I am making this thread in the first place.

That being said, every expansion should have some kind of challenge PvE content. It could be seasonal, but KSM fills that gap. We need something bigger than that, and something reliable. Every expansion should have some kind of ‘mage tower’. It should be a time sensitive challenge, spec or class specific, group or solo, and it should be hard. It should be real flippin’ hard. It should award something befitting the expansion. Something that says “I was there! I did a thing! And I won!”

I think people would also become more accepting of challenging time sensitive content if they understand “well next expansion will have something good too!” BFA didn’t have one – that’s an issue. SL didn’t have one. That’s a massive issue. Especially considering all the framework was there via Torghast.

I said it in another thread, and I’ll say it here: it could be a big old tower of doom in the middle of Valdrakken for all I care. We need some form of time sensitive, interesting, fun, and rewarding content. A transmog, an enchant / illusion, dragonriding customization, whatever. It needs to be good. It needs to be epic.

what you ask for exists in wow and is in abundance.

Seasonal PvP rewards, and KSM is not “an abundance” of time sensitive challenging content. The PvE crowd should have more than just KSM as “time sensitive challenging content” and it’s all they’ve had for two expansions in a row. KSM is not a huge burden. It’s not difficult. It is not on the same level as something fun and interesting like CM’s or the mage tower.

Well thats more than Solo players have so you should wait your turn.

I don’t remember anyone being accepting of Mists, Warlords and Legion ones when they were current…

By that I mean people won’t be spamming threads begging for retired rewards because they’ll understand if they actually want something, next expac will also have something worth it.

Different teams exist for different reasons. More than one form of content can be worked on, and is worked on. There’s no reason both groups cannot get things.

its to late to ask for anything this patch if anything challenging Solo content is what is lacking other than mage tower. torghast was nice but we need stuff for when raid groups or bg groups arnt on or it isnt raid day. something for off days or solo players.

I like the idea of more mage tower challenges or a revamped brawler’s guild. Gives me some challenging and fun stuff to do when I just wanna hop on and do some solo stuff for a bit.

I’m not asking for it during an initial patch, nor do I think it’s something which should come in the initial patch. The initial patch should be for comfort, becoming accustomed to an expansion, and becoming comfortable with current levels of power.

It should be a .2 thing though, much like how mage tower (which was the last piece of challenging content we had and was available for solo players) was a .2 patch thing.

I have to imagine you weren’t actually playing then.

It’s funny because this was also addressed in the Preach interview. Watcher outright said that not a lot of people did challenge modes. But it’s not something a massive amount of man power was dedicated to in the first place, and it was worth providing something for the players to enjoy.

Excuse me?

They basically said they like, go through the forums all the time or on a regular schedule and compile all the feedback presented and actually present it to the people. That the deliverance of the feedback is the hard part because of which departments it goes to and all of that.

I dunno, they made it sound like it was important so I said screw it, lemme present this take cause I’d rather take the shot than not.

While I’m quite certain the information is presented, it doesn’t really matter if they pay zero heed to any of it.

Which is what they do.

They even ask beta testers specific questions, get nearly unanimous responses, and then throw those responses in the trash and do something completely contrary to what everybody said they wanted.

I completely agree with you. We’ve had this talk before Brewa, you know I’m on the same side as you on that. I’m a priest main, go check out some of my posts over in the priest beta forums lol

But I mean. Why not, right? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

It’s why we’ve been fighting the good fight for years, yes.

But to suddenly believe that - despite all their actions to the contrary - we should believe the developers care about forum feedback, because Preach said they did…

Come on.

i totally agree it would do wonders for wow in 2022-2023.

I didn’t say I believe it, did I? I said given the importance they placed on it, perhaps I should provide an idea. Like I said, nothing ventured nothing gained. It never hurts to try.
