Which I do understand, but still, 50 characters is a LOT. I imagine not many people would fall into this category.
Not only do we need one of every race/gender… we need one of every race/gender per armor type!
I don’t care what you imply you are not playing 50 toon’s regularly, the math doesn’t add up, You are an ‘anomaly’ and must deal with your collection issues not Blizzard.
This is 100% on you my friend.
Yes but if you don’t have a draenei female of every spec you are playing the game wrong
Somewhere in the code that governs the player account database, there’s a routine that looks at or monitors your number of created characters. There has to be, as it spits out an error when you hit 50, and you can see it at work when you look at the realm list (all the numbers in brackets indicating how many characters you have per server).
OK, so bumping up the figure that’s used to compare should be a pretty straightforward exercise. Don’t give me this crap about “it’s going to take a team of coders” because it won’t. Anyone who has done any programming related to databases will tell you that increasing your sample pool is pretty straightforward.
I do agree that there is a storage issue, and that our characters use up a lot of space to hold the data in place. Even a small increase would be quite costly in terms of allocating the excess space required to house new characters.
So long story short, I think that Blizzard could increase the number of characters fairly easily. But I think that not enough people would take advantage of it to make it worthwhile for them.
I’ve always thought they should sell additional character slots in the cash shop. A one time fee for each slot with packages of 5 and 10. 1 for $10. 5 for $30. 10 character slots for $60.
They probably are more interested in you paying for a race change or faction change.
that would work too
I understand not wanting to delete higher level characters (someone said anything they delete would be over lvl 100) because it would feel like wasted time, however, I feel like it’s a shallow argument in most cases regardless. I find it hard to believe you’re actively cycling between all 50 characters. If you have that many, you’re almost guaranteed to have a bunch that you haven’t touched in several months, if not longer. Delete the least active characters, because at that point clearly your enjoyment comes from the act of leveling up a new character, not from playing it once it’s leveled.
FWIW, if increasing the cap would be an easy change for Blizzard and wouldn’t cost them any significant amount, sure, I’m not opposed to increasing it. Basically, if 50 was an arbitrary number they picked and nothing more, why not upgrade it? I just think it’s hardly a necessity is all.
How about less junk in the cash shop and more stuff for free or cheaper. Some of the stuff in the cash shop is greedy. Such as a race change. I don’t need anymore of that and you got to pay taxes on top of it now too.
I think the only difficulty would be if the limit is stored as some binary value, in which case going above 64 might cause a mess of problems. But 50 to 60 would not have the same dilemma, as you’re still under that 2^6 number. It might not even be stored that way either.
My only thought on this is, if an individual can keep up with that many characters then they should really take a hard look at how much time they spend playing the game. Out of concern for any physical, mental, or social health adverse effects.
Beyond that, I really don’t care what the character cap is. 1, 20, 100, plus, whatever.
No we don’t need more than 50 toons per account. It is already hard enough to find a name for them. Half the names I try to get are low level or inactive characters holding them. This idea would just make that prob worse. Also it would be very rare that someone would play all 50 or even close to that.
Reposted on correct guy sorry for double post. Some reason it doesn’t default to my forum toon anymore.
how enjoyable is it to level a character to max and then shelf it, 50 times? there is no way you have any attachment to any of your characters like that.
No, you need a perspective on what this GAME has to offer and why.
If you cannot be satisfied unless you have everything and always your own way, then you need to step back and do some serious thinking on your priorities.
I’d rant more but my ride is here; time for a glorious weekend in the Real World!
Ta.
Flips hair, takes a last sip of tea and frolics out the door
Also, thank-you for populating WOW with draenai female specs.
I would love to see like video proof of real time you playing 50 toons a day for a week.
I barely have time to play one toon let alone>50. That sounds like a hoarding problem.
Seek help!
I was thinking why we can’t take the D3 method for naming where names are only unique to individual accounts and not server first come first serve.
But they can store every character I’ve deleted going years back no problem?
Yeah, not buying it.
