All of the current ones, honestly, are great. Bastion for Duty, Maldraxxus for War, Revendreth for Absolution, and Ardenweald for Renewal - but there are COUNTLESS Shadowlands.
I would love to see the realm for those whose whole life has been dedicated to design - essetially a “City of Cities” where you would find people like Baros Alexston and Gazlowe, eventually.
Or a realm dedicated to just…Gul’dan. Like any incarnation of Gul’dan that there is. Like it’s just a realm soley for them.
I’d love to see the realm for dead gods of light and void - where they go when their spark of life is truly gone.
I wanna see where Argus SHOULD have gone - where all the titans go when they die.
In the arbiter room when you first get to SL theres tons of gateways
There are infinite realms which was all wasted opportunity to set 9.1 in the maw, then they cut the drust patch/raid
But yea i also laugh that all mortal souls go into SL but we didn’t see any creatures from other worlds etc to drop some bread crumbs and hints of whats out there
Course the theory there is most worlds are dead now except azeroth so idk how the river of souls in the maw even works. There arent millions dying on azeroth every minute
But this all leads to the summary conclusion: the writing isnt uh great
The Shadowlands we see is basically death’s front office. The administrative area. From the Arbiter’s chamber you can see untold gateways to other realms.
Thanks to everyone who knows the lore! I know people crap on Shadowlands - but they’ll crap on just about any expansion. I actually kinda like this take on it. In the same way that I like oatmeal Raisen cookies despite expecting a chocolate chip! It’s different, it’s not what I’d wanted at first, but on the second bite I remember I love these!
I’m of the opinion that numerous parts of the game SHOULD be revisited and updated with new expansions and patches - as like…a side project. Getting to see a little scrap of another realm of death, or seeing other towns and stuff springing up on Azeroth…I’d love that.
Legion had world upon worlds but we weren’t going to see any of those. Antorus was just raid size but was suppose to be some mega metropolis. Thats always the issue with talking about the infinite type idea, condensed into a limited resource.
None of us born right now will see a workable holodeck.
There will be no meeting Evil Lincoln for us.
Then I shall take it upon myself to learn core and unreal, and to craft my own realms of Death and life.
I’ve got this rough sketch I wanna do for Gilneas post-BFA - the concept is that the river that runs along the east side of Gilneas city would become a giant Azerite fissure, and push the edges of the peninsula up on both sides. Rivers running dry, the highlands crumbling, the Greymane wall perched precariously on a massive cliff - while Gilneas city’s steady infrastructure keeps it well and intact despite everything.
They could always do a second expansion, but with more realms and maybe have half of it on Azeroth rather than just entirely in the Shadowlands to avoid more “TOO COSMIC!” complaints, actually make Denathrius and the Nathrezim seem like an Azeroth relevant threat ala a Secret invasion like plot.
Denathrius as of post-Dragonflight will have had 3 years alone in the Shadowlands to have done something like stolen Pelagos’ power as Arbiter or something and become the newest threat to the Shadowlands and beyond.
First of all, the expansion is almost over and I don’t think I can spend one more day in the Shadowlands. Second of all, these zones had so much potential, I liked the premise of them but the way there were gone about is just terrible.
In the most recent book Sylvanas is taken to a realm for Lava Eels that vore their partners and is sad because the Lava Eel that vored her mate in life isn’t reunited with him in death and that’s why she decides to genocide the entire universe for the Jailer (this isn’t satire this actually happened).
There’s more than just the 4, Blizzard just does a terrible job communicating that.
I highly recommend writing stories. Work your way up to full fledged books. Then publish them. If you have a lot of ideas, this will work out well for you.
