This right here is a major problem as you progress into higher level keys. Interrupts are so important. We already don’t push the highest numbers, so when we have to sacrifice DPS by either stopping the channel to interrupt, or take a less optimal prioritization of our spells in anticipation of having to do an interrupt soon, we really suffer.
I disagree just on the point that the Pally has a Brez. I personally would take a pally over a monk for that reason, and that’s coming from someone who has been playing MW for years.
This right here is the major problem, and a feeling I don’t recall having either when I am on another class.
We need some love for sure. MW is by far in the best position out of all our specs, but when you start to compare the utility we just don’t have it. I think the quickest fix is to give us a Brez or Lust, but that may be lazy and start a chain of events where everyone has a Brez or Lust. I think a more interesting solution would be to rework our “party buff”, and give us something unique/compelling.
WW feels really good to play right now, but it just doesn’t do the numbers to justify bringing it over other classes. A good WW will most likely get dominated by a somewhat competent DK in M+ as far as DPS, and a DK has a battle rez. They’ve done a great job making the play feel good, and I think the final fix for the long term is to take a look at the mastery. Our mastery is great because at it’s base it rewards “good play”, but the impact doesn’t feel incredible.
I grabbed a couple logs to compare and on it I had a 73% weighted uptime on my mastery effect, and that added a grand total of 26k estimated damage. Compare that to another was 53% uptime on mastery with 22k estimated damage added. These numbers come from WoW Analyzer. I think there’s a way to tweak that so that “better gameplay” will do more damage.
I don’t have many thoughts on brew as when I went to start to play it for the first time this season my healer asked if we could have a different class tank since I seemed too squishy, haha… I know that when I was hitting the celestial brew felt like it wasn’t doing enough, and that there were times I felt I needed to hit purifying brew and it wasn’t there so the cooldown probably needs to be examined on that.
I completely agree with this. However, as far as healers go - I don’t see a real reason they should not all have a bres. I don’t think it would actually hurt anything. Bres is also the exact reason I keep ending up having to play my paladin even though the characters are similar in power. (And the pally is way less fun gameplay imo.)
The utility issue is a problem in raid as well. Our big cooldown as MW (Revival) has been unjustifiably nerfed into oblivion. I admit that I do not play optimally, but even if I did I simply could not compare to another class played equally well.
Something needs to be done to make all flavors of monk more desirable to groups.
Yeah, i agree 100% on this, but i would just make a 2% increase on main stat, that way mages, dh, wars and monks are not “needed” in a raid comp, and makes fair play in m+ for those 4 classes, where 3 of those doesn’t bring a brez or lust
This kind of utility would be nice for keys, but in all honestly, just give WW its old stuff back and we’d be fine. FoF but not double reduced. MotC but not mark capped and nerfed into roughly a third of what it was. Legion SotWL. MoP RoP (Old arcane torrent on crack). MoP Zen Med (90% raid/group DR). And these are just things i can name off the top of my head.
WW monk was best with chi explosion. It was a great ability. Should have reverted our mastery to 5.2 TEB at that time too make mastery have real meaning and it not be a constant case of TEBing nearly every FoF.
Alas, Blizzard took us away from that slight push towards DBZ/Street Fighter. My understanding is that the invite only feedback forum at the time suggested taking monk in a different direction. That led to the Legion design. It is this design that is still present at its core.
This may be unfair, but I believe the main monk representative in that forum was Babylonius. Whilst I respect and applaud his efforts in general, I despise him for motivating Blizzard to move monk away from the MoP/WoD design to the Legion design.
Hopefully they add some interesting abilities like the monk and spirit guy from Diablo. Would be cool to be able to counter attack every time we dodge… Since that’s kinda how drunken Masters work…
Tbh, I hate when damage is tied into actively tanking, because then its balanced around that and completely falls flat whenever you’re not. Counterstrike feels bad when you’re off tanking.
Another Class Tuning Update - another F U Brewmasters …

Every other tank ‘touched’ multiple times // buffs // nerfs // reworks … but absolute SILENCE on Brewmasters … what are they cooking up … or they just deliberatly F and U to Brewmaster because Classic Redo Mists is coming out and they want all Brews to go play that when Brew was better/different
Using that mythicstats website - (h ttps://mythicstats.com/meta?expansion=all) last time Brew was heavy utilized (the majority of tanks) was BFA Season 3 // over 5 years ago … maybe they really dont know how to tune Brewmaster … they literally killed it for M+ after Shadowlands Season 3 by looking at the utilization percentages …
Feel sad for you - you troll because you seek attention and your lonely in the real world. You must not have any friends or you haven’t ‘touched grass’ in a real long time.
That would be unique and work also to make monks more attractive to groups. Unfortunately, I am going to have to assume that the devs just don’t care at this point because everyone who wants to play this class has been trying to advocate for -something- to be done to help it for a while and still nothing gets done.
