We need Death Appeals

Even if it anything did warrant appeal, this still applies.

There is absolutely no chance blizzard allows appeals based on this fact. It would double or triple their workload, and hire/train gms that can actually do things in game again.

I don’t think Treebourn realizes how the internet works… Anyway, I am done responding to them, and probably this thread in general.

Good luck everyone who isn’t complaining about disconnects!

Imagine getting yourself into a bit of trouble where you know you are going to die, and you decide to DC your own character on purpose. Let’s say you shut off the router. Then you come back and appeal based on a DC.

Why does that seem so absurd to people. I find it outrageous people stick up for how Blizzard should not monitor their game. The precious HC server is about to be taken over by bots like all other servers and we still make excuses for them.

I don’t think them doing something like that is absurd.

I think having any realistic expectations of them doing this before hardcore dies off is.

Nope.

There are plenty of technical solutions which could be implemented to account for DC deaths.

They exist in other HC online only games.

But Blizzard has the developers that are willing to work at a company with a diminished reputation in terms of both ethics and work quality, for 80K a year in Irvine CA, with mandatory requirements to work in the office vs. remote.

So the developers they have, are the bad ones.

This is why Diablo 4 has the players coded as single objects so you load all the player’s stash with them - and why it’s taking months to fix this.

It’s why hearthstone battlegrounds crashes whenever non-trivial combat math is required during a battle.

It’s why hardcore servers took months for blizzard to announce followed by months of PTR testing for what would have been a simple 3-4 code refactor for a different game.

It’s why OverWatch 2 doesn’t have PvE missions.

It’s why WoW retail continues to have lag spikes during instances of spiked combat math.

It’s why they can’t figure out that the people spamming trade in retail with solo-shuffle carries/boosts are breaking ToS because there’s no way to boost solo-shuffle without account sharing.

So yes, of course DCs are a problem, and of course there’s plenty that could be done. But you knew what you signed up for. All the evidence was there, and you choose to ignore it.

That said, I’m playing a little HC too, and leveled over 20 twice, which you can read as “I died to being an idiot at least once”. The advice I can give anyone playing these games is to not emotionally attach themselves to an outcome, because you might get let down.

Well it does in my opinion.

That is a good point, but so many players are jaded and just accept getting shafted by blizzard. It’s a main reason why the moderation and care for the game has suffered over the years.

I for one never like to chop things up to “It is what it is” that leaves no room for change or growth…ever.

Blizzard and their infinite wisdom saw a way around this. Imagine, being level 40+ on HC, you got great gear, leveled your professions and are having a great time…OOPS, a DC or bad pull, and you die. BUT WAIT THERES MORE, YOU GET TO HAVE A FREE REALM XFER, AND CONTINUE TO PLAY THAT CHARACTER. Imagine that.

This way, if you died to something dumb or not your fault, you don’t lose everything you have, just the title. so whether you decide to continue or not, your character is still available to you, which is why they aren’t going to do appeals.

Ehh I have a very valid point and I believe others should consider the point I make. Im just going to go unsub now and deuce out of this shill forum.

Enjoy getting fed crap and being happy with it.

You can also choose not to play HC mode and play era where if you die to DC it doesn’t matter. People go in to HC knowing they’ll put 100s of hours into a character and it can be gone in an instant. On top of that, you don’t actually lose your toon. You can transfer it off the HC realm for free and continue playing it.

These servers also bring up a modal before you roll any character, making sure you know that Blizzard will not restore a character for any reason, making you agree to the conditions to continue. “By agreeing to play on these realms, you accept that your character’s death is permanent for whatever the reason. This includes disconnections, lag, sever outages, (they missed a typo lol), gameplay bugs, or any other reason.”

Was this a different character? Did you lose two to DC?

Maybe I’m getting too philosophical for the forums - maybe I’m nibbling at the bait - but here I go >.>

I love the fact that, for whatever the reason, Death = Death.

Why?

In retail, I’ve noticed that I’ve treated quests, leveling, professions, etc as a barrier to the “actual” / “real” game. In retail I click “accept” quest before even realizing what I have to do until I check the quest log and follow the arrow to the location on the map then click X number of things.

Now on HC Classic, with the knowledge of death being the final end, I’ve gained a whole new appreciation for taking my time, reading quests, and being aware of my surroundings. Looking up tips, tricks, and strats before I Leeroy Jenkins face pull an area. I read quests (mainly to make sure I’m not about to be in danger <.<). I’m taking time to focus on side stuff / professions (Fishing is at 150, Herb is at 130, Alchemy is at 125, Cooking is at 150, First Aid is at 80) since it’ll be beneficial for the long run.

And, inevitably, my toon will die for whatever reason. Death will come for us all, eventually. And that’s the appeal of it, for me at least. It gives me meaning to the time I do have with this toon. In the several days its been up, I already have several stories that have made me laugh more than I ever have before playing WoW.

Will I be annoyed when I die? Of course.
Will I be more annoyed if I die to something out of my control? Yeah, probably.

Thankfully, when I die, all that time will not be lost. This is by far some of the most fun I’ve had playing WoW in a couple months. I’ll still have all the time, memories, and friends I’ve made on the HC sever.

And heck, I’ll still even have my toon! Just now transferred to a non-HC server.

Once my main toon dies - I’ll probably never log into a HC sever again. But I’ve found a new appreciation for Classic. And I’ll def be logging into Classic casually when I need a break from the grind of retail.

It must be real bad to die to a DC.

I am not one to defend our devs but on this matter of server DC vs alt-F4… they legit probably look the same to Blizzard. So you pull too much, get mad, alt-f4 and that’s now a DC. Or you’re running along and the internets drops you and off the cliff you go.

Both of these look the same from the server perspective. I’m legit sorry to hear you had a DC. I’m sure it will be the same for me and I’ll likely quit HC when it does but here’s to hoping it’s not.

I would love to see them improve knowing whether you are online or not thought. Maybe that would help here.

Either way. Good luck folks!

Came to complain about a death on HC

Doesn’t get the response they wanted: SHILLS, ALL OF YOU

Damn warriors and their mana issues…

The problem with DC's is there is no way for the average person to know what caused the DC. You're simply blameing blizzards servers when you have 0 proof that was the cause. There's a few variables between you and them including both. So to blame it on Blizz alone is being unrealistic.

Really? Yall havent flagged this as trolling yet?
