We need clarification on multiboxing ban. There is more than one way

If it looks like key broadcasting, you’re going to get chain reported by players that no longer need to guess if it’s a bot or someone running isboxer. That’s the point of this ban, to remove camouflage from bots.

Blizzard is almost certainly going to lazily make some automated process to identify and ban key broadcasting like behavior, to augment specific software bans. At best, people using hardware based key duplication are going to get it overturned, but then blizzard will add a specific ban on hardware too. Worse case, they do what they’ve done in the past, and not differentiate between hardware and software that does a prohibited action.

I’ve been building my own machines from parts since the 2000s, stranger on the internet, and work as a network administrator. It’s late enough that I’m not going to part pick to see what minimum price I can get to match wows minimum, but doubt you get the computer itself under 300 to 400, and 80 or so for the monitor.

Have fun running all of these boxes on a single circuit too. Will you see some KVM based dual boxing? Maybe. We will never again see the swarms of 10 druids stealing all of a zones resources.

How to multibox in 2021 without getting cought.

Requires 305 SL engineering (only gnomes can craft)

I don’t actually see much of a risk for them. Blizzard has stated they will give warnings IF they catch you. If they don’t or can’t then what does a person who has spent thousands of dollars building up multiple accounts have to lose.

couldnt one just simply build a raspberry pi setup in keyboard gadget mode? it wouldnt be hard for someone to just emulate a physical HID keyboard with a raspberry pi, and send commands to the raspberry pi which in turn controls the game. this what im getting at with my original post. i feel multiboxing will turn into the same thing botting is now. by banning what people are already doing, people will try to circumvent the problem. they will probably end up banning all forms of multiboxing by the end of shadowlands at that point.

I have three accounts. I often have two open when I am active. They are doing two different things. One is monitoring the auction house and one is playing the game.

If they ban all forms of multiboxing they will be losing some of their most profitable players as well. Do you really think they are that stupid?

they are already losing the players that had like 24 to 40 accounts. there was a guy on facebook that mad because he had 405million gold and spent close to 100k of real money on his multibox setup. he had 24 world of warcraft accounts. if his playstyle got ruined by the ban do you think he will stay?

they saved wow economy at the expense of their future profits. saving wow economy wont bring back most of those who left. but iit might help keep future gamers. so it was a difficult choice

Let me make it simple for you. Almost everyone who buys a lot of the blizzard products for other games is doing it by playing the auction house on multiple accounts. According to this thread and the quotes in it playing multiple account is NOT illegal. There is absolutely no valid reason to cut this stream of revenue from their games. While there isn’t that many people who have 24 multi box accounts, there is a huge number with 2 or 3 who auction house play.

But you go ahead, keep up with your fear mongering.

i wouldnt call it fear mongering, its more like paranoia. by banning software based multiboxing. it opens the door to misconception and misinterpretation.

people will eventually start believing that all multiboxing is banned. and start reporting multiboxers who are legitimate. currently blizzard deals out automated bans based the number of reports. you hear alot of it in the forums and on wowhead.

i keep 2 accounts as well. but i’ve never used software/hardware based multiboxing. i just alt tab between accounts while leveling, do most of the hard work on 1 account and loot things on the other. im worried that i have to keep an eye over my shoulder in game to make sure im not being watched by overly suspicious players.

Then it will just be up to blizzard to start clarifying what is allowed and what isn’t. There is a lot of threads already where people are saying it is banned but people are correcting them.

which is why i started this post asking for clarification

This is an update as of 9 hours ago.

Multiboxing, or playing multiple World of Warcraft accounts at once, is not a violation of our Terms of Use. Please note, however, that use of input broadcasting software may result in account penalties.

Eventually the question is going to become how many PCs can I run off one circuit in my house. I could build PCs all day long but eventually I’ll be limited by electricity.

That’s not paranoia, that’s conspiracy theory.

I’ve been posting it every couple hours. Nobody’s reading it, because it doesn’t say what they want it to say.

Well dangit change it to say what they want it to say

PFFFT.

Extension cords from other rooms.

Or wire in a new bank to your gaming room. Not that difficult to install a breaker setup and get service to it. Dedicated power!

Yeah I know but that’s probably my limit, when I have to call in other people to make modifications to my house so I can play video games
And I would guess that’s absolutely a deterrent for most of the playerbase.

Nothing much you can do about that. There is no real reason for eliminating the other forms of multiboxing.

You can multibox as long as you do not use a 3rd party program. You MUST tab between all clients manually.

Negative.

You can just fire them up on different machines and use a KVM switch or something else that is entirely hardware driven.

You guys are going to be very salty when you find hyperspawn and node farmers are still at it and not getting banned.
