We had one from 2004 until BFA. I think we can go without an evil faction for a bit. How many times does the Alliance need to course correct the evil faction anyways?

So… what has Arthas done that every WoW villain hasn’t? I mean, he killed a bunch of people and made some vague threats and talked in a ridiculous deep voice, all clear signs of evil, but not really things that stand out from the crowd.

Arthas had the benefit of coming out when most of the people who think he was a good villain were literal children.

Horde got smacked with the villain/evil bat because alliance players couldn’t* stomach the idea of their “precious good guys” doing evil things for any reason.

Um, no.
It was the lore that did that.
Players went with it because that was part of the immersion.

There can be conflict between groups within the Horde and Alliance still.

Just got to emphasize that these groups don’t represent the whole and ensure they feel like their own thing. Faction conflict didn’t do a good job at doing it in the past, making everything too much about one gigantic faction against another gigantic faction.

I’m saying being an evil faction isn’t the only way to cover up them being jerks either. Seeing a lot of passive-aggressive folks here, they can might as well excuse it by saying “Well i’m RPing as Lawful good”. So you would agree being passive-aggressive fake positive isn’t something to be excused with RP either?

My point here is keeping that principle consistent, considering “being a jerk” paints more then just somebody being plain and obviously crappy, because i’m talking about those who are fake or toxic positive, the passive aggressive types.

I agree, let people play the scarlet crusade and only ever get evil quests. Lots of people want to be the scarlets. Let them, and make them the evil guys who no redeeming qualities.

This is why I want factions to be joinable. There are several “evil” factions out there, but we cannot join them, apart from building reputation with the Bloodsail Buccaneers.
