Horde and Alliance just a bunch of hippies now.
How about moving the Maanari, Sylvanas Loyalists and whatever into there own faction? Not every race needs to be a bunch of anti-war peace lovers in a game called World of WARCRAFT.
Hell, make the new faction have Dreadlords, Fel Orcs … I dont care… but playing evil characters is a staple for many video games. Hell… even Warcraft 2 had you playing an Evil Horde.
Hell even in Baldurs gate understands this need to play the Evil character very well.
You put in Sylvanas Loyalists, Nzoth Loyalists , Etc… But then did a 180 and made the game all Hippie… wtf
Or you can keep making all the races sing and holding hands… whatever.

And allow us players to join that evil faction

Their version of evil would be so fake and embarrassingly empty these days.
To depict real evil in a video game, the character should upset people enough to motivate people to want to defeat them (arthas).
Blizzard doesn’t want upset anyone. That’s what makes their storytelling suck turds
When you make a video game to appease everyone, you end up pleasing no one.

Ahh yes. Another “BuT mAh WaRCraFt” thread. There’s war and conflict still happening. It’s not about the faction war. Get over it.

Or is it YOU need an evil faction? Just asking. I am fine with things so far.

So the evil is ‘Arthas’? The pale dude? Just like what we continue to hear outside is Arthas ‘supremacy’!" Is that what you are saying?
Arthas killed a bunch of women and children
Good luck getting blizzard to do anything like that these days
The thing about evil is it’s just that… “evil”
Wow players these days are too soft
Imagine the worst crimes you could possibly commit x10 and you’ve got a decent villain.
People would be on here complaining about the death knight starting quest where you murder a bunch of innocents if it came out today

Ya its Sad… Because I mean… You’re playing a DEATH KNIGHT. I don’t get people now a days… Its a video game not the real world.

I mean, if you want to join team ‘Perpetual Losers’ then go right ahead. I’ll be here on the Hero team that keeps winning.

What are you talking about? This is a fantasy world and you are bringing real politics into it.
FRIENDLY REMINDER: You are not your world of Warcraft character.

What are you even on about?

Funny how no one batted in eye in Warcraft III when the Humans, New Horde, and Night Elves teamed up against the Burning Legion, or in Vanilla to Wrath of the Lich King where there was no emphasis on the faction war and the Alliance and Horde routinely teamed up against larger threats, or in Cataclysm when the Alliance and Horde teamed up against the Twilight’s Hammer, fire elementals, and Deathwing, or in Mists of Pandaria when the Alliance and Horde rebels teamed up against Garrosh, or in Warlords of Draenor where the Alliance and Horde teamed up against the Iron Horde and Gul’dan, or in Legion when the Alliance and Horde teamed up against the Burning Legion once again…
Seems like these complaints ONLY come from players who joined during Battle for Azeroth and thought the status quo of the game was Alliance versus Horde (and even then the Alliance and Horde teamed up against Azshara and N’Zoth).

No, your comment sounds like Word Salad

No it doesn’t.
It has nothing to do with anything I said.
People who make everything about politics are the absolute worst (you)
Take your trash and go home

YOU to me are beyond words of ‘politics’. That is my opinion. You specifically brought up the ‘villian’ in your world as Arthas. Why? hmmm?
He’s literally a villain in world of Warcraft
I’m not engaging with you anymore bro get some help
You definitely need it

You seem to be mistaken. The playerbase doesn’t mind evil villains. The more evil the better. If a villain is truly unlikable it makes it that much more satisfying when they finally fall.
The issue is when the players are made into villains. We don’t want to be evil (with rare exception), so don’t force us into the role of ‘conqueror’, ‘monster’, or worse.

Some people want to play a villain and many video games offer this
I’ll say it again YOU ARE NOT YOUR WOW CHARACTER
There should be multiple avenues to act heroically or be the anti-hero that’s literally the point of fantasy (you are doing things you wouldn’t do Irl)
Also I can think of an instance where a certain evil act happened recently in wow lore that had to be changed due to how close it was to IRL things happening at blizzard.
Moral of the story is they suck at keeping it in the fantasy realm and constantly ruin the immersion because they cannot tell good stories and having a good villain is part of telling good stories
Ancient Greek mythology is more exciting and engaging than wow lore in 2024 lmao

I have no problem with an evil playable faction existing (though the narrative is already tough enough to advance with any semblance of sense with two ‘heroic’ factions, throwing a third in the mix whose ideals are directly opposed to the previous two is begging for trouble).
What I take great umbrage with is being made into the villain against my will. I did not want to partake in the Burning, but alas, according to the canon Lingxiu helped burn Teldrassil. I don’t want to oppose Alliance activities as long as they are helping oppose the greater threat and aren’t threatening me.
If you want to be evil, then you should probably find a game willing to entertain an ‘evil’ playable side.

Wow should offer that and did in the past. If everyone is a hero it gets really boring and the word “hero” loses its actual meaning.
If all the characters are always heroes then no one is.
